Get a moped!! It's quite fun to cruise around without being part of some tour and discover your own favorite places. The traffic is only 20 mph so it is pretty safe.(stay left!)The locals will generally know you are a tourist and just buzz around you.**note** (the 2 girls you see behind me)thier boyfriends crashed on mopeds (drunk probably) and were hobbling around the rest on the trip with casts and bandages. yuk!

I took and cruise one year, and flew the other. I vote for flying. From New Jersey, USA the flight was less than 2 hours. The system is simple. Because Bermuda is so small, taking the bus was never easier. On the sides of the roads are striped poles, denoting a bus stop. Get on the bus on one side of the road, and you go to one end of the island. Get on the bus on the other side of the road, go to the other end of the island. And each bus has a layout of the travel schedule. It was great. I would get off anywhere and just walk around, finding beautiful, unpopulated beaches by cliffs, wonderful flowers, etc.
I've heard that Bermuda is best visiting by cruise ship because of its expense. By cruise, your transportation, room and board are included. However, you can also fly into Bermuda. I believe the airport is in Hamilton.

Tourists are not allowed to rent cars. There is little space to park. I even heard that the locals get to work by 6 in the morning so they can get a parking spot. You are allowed to rent mopeds (motor bikes) to get to the out of the way locations. But we found our way to HorseShoe Bay using the local bus service with no problem and there are several taxis waiting at the dock to take travelers around town for a reasonable price. And there are always tours that provide transporation, as with this horse and carriage.

Bermuda's bus system is well-organised and efficient. You can't miss the big pink liners roving about the island, picking up passengers at the uniform stone stops along the roads. Maybe its the infrasructure, the timliness, or the cleanliness, but Bermuda's bus system is the best I've ever ridden. You can purchase various passes and things, but a ride cost one Bermuda dollar for children and two for adults. All the lines converge on the central terminal on Washington Street in downtown Hamilton, so be prepared to change buses if heading cross-island.
Traveled to Bermuda out of JFK - American Airlines. Very convenient schedules and upon arrival in Bermuda, took a taxi to our hotel/condo.The best way to get around is by renting a motorbike. A bit strange driving on the opposite side of the road, but worth it. You can zip on down to the beach or into the larger towns much more quickly and enjoy the breeze as you go.
To get to Bermuda one must fly or take a cruise ship. Please note that Bermuda is a small island, approx 12 miles long. You will not be allowed to rent a car in Bermuda, but don't be discouraged, they have a good bus system and cabs are always available. You can purchase a 1day or 3day unlimited bus pass which I believe is the best value. By the way, you can rent motor scooters, which is always fun, especially if you are not used to driving on the left side of the road : )
Only 2 ways to get there...Air and seaThough they allow motorscooters (no car rentals in Bermuda) The best way and cheepest I found was the bus system. Cost of about $18.00 USD for a 3 day pass, also allows use of the ferry transportation and entry into the famed lighthouse (seasonal)
I always go by cruise ship. It's inexpensive (all inclusive) and you dock right on the street.Be careful of the rental scooters! Many tourists are injured on these each year. The bus system is the best way to travel; relatively inexpensive and quite reliable.
