Bermuda Triangle

by filippoaliani

No doubt you have wondered about the Bermuda Triangle. It is the greatest modern mystery of our supposedly well understood world: a region of the Atlantic Ocean between Bermuda, Miami, Florida, and San Juan, Puerto Rico, where explanation. I began this as an innocent search before it escalated into a vast project, a project to get almost every report possible, to track down every clue, to verify every claim. . . and often to get the figurative door slammed in my face. These official reports form the bulk of the evidence used herein. Carefully siftingthrough these, with lines censored, pages cut out and paragraphs deleted, has brought to light a pattern interwoven with mystery and tragedy, as one disappearance illustrates.

Look both ways when you cross the street

by CdnJane

Just more words of caution that the cars drive on the "other side" of the road from Canada or the US or Europe... when you cross the street.. look both ways and then check again! Use the cross walks.. the cars will stop for you if YOU too follow the rules of the road. Remember all those road safety lessons of years gone by... they make a lot of sense.

by Weener

Not really a warning, but be aware of the speed limit .. 35 kilometers an hour, throughout the island. It is not possible to hire a car, but tourists can hire a moped or use the bus or taxi to get around the Island.

Yeah if you like to shop there...

by Hot-Holly

Yeah if you like to shop there is barely anything in Bermuda. All I found was a Body Shop, U.C.O.B.,Nautica/Levis and some boutiques, which were kind of cute..... no malls or anything...... oh well......

by maitEifion

Not a bad idea to keep cameras and purses inside a day pack that you wear on your back while on the moped--hey, crime can happen anywhere with an easy target.Be careful on your moped--especially be ready to drive defensively. I had a head-on collision with a local 16 year old who had just got her license and rounded the corner on the wrong side of the road. They drive on the LEFT--REMEMBER THAT--she was on the right!Emergency rooms anywhere in the world are detestable--BDA's no exception. After waiting about 3 hours, we were finally seen--good piece of road rash and some sprains.A native driver pictured here.

They drive on the left side of the road!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quite irrational.....keep a stiff upper lip.Jellyfish..........BAD. Dead ones on the beach will still sting you. Watch where you walk. While swimming or snorkeling. When swimming...........look what is ahead of you. When snorkeling(your head is looking down) LOOK up and see what is ahead of you. It is dangerous if you run into one while swimming/snorkeling. The tenacles/arms start draping around you because of your motion and the current. You are not stung just once, but multiple times. It is a pain that is debilitating. You could drown easily. I saw the big Man-of-War type jellyfish and saw numerous people swim head first in to them. I saw an Anna Nicole Smith look alike swim into one and she is now bald and beautiful. Becareful.Latest tip.........vinegar will stop the itch/pain if a small area is affected!! If it is a larger area you...

Expensive.... Expensive.......

by nimmos

Expensive.... Expensive.... Expensive.... Bermuda is now more interested in the insurance industry than in the tourist industry. We spent our honeymoon there in 1965 at Elbow Beach Surf Club, went back in 1999 (couldn’t afford Elbow Beach this time), but will probably never return again!Don't get me wrong... we really enjoyed our visits on both occasions, but for the money, look elsewhere!!!

Icky Things Are Everywhere, (Not Really)

Oh, I forgot this. (Prior, I said 'don't ask about roaches', well... I couldn't help it!)

Most restaurants automatically add 15% to your bill. Be very careful therefore that you don’t tip twice.
