Canada's hockey team winning Olympic gold

by Carmanah

When the Canadian mens hockey team won the gold medal in 2002, there was a spontanious celebration in downtown Vancouver as the crowds poured out from the local sports bars and pubs. I'm sure this happened everywhere else in the country, but I happened to be witness to it in Vancouver. What was nice is that it was a warm and sunny afternoon in February... so it was an ideal day for this kind of win. Everyone came out to celebrate on the corner of Robson and Thurlow downtown and waved flags and wore hockey jerseys. There was an incredible feeling in the air and it felt somewhat surreal. People were breaking into spontanious hockey games in the streets and people were honking horns and cheering. This lasted well into the evening. The only other time something like this happened in Vancouver was when the Vancouver Canucks NHL team lost to the New York Rangers in 1994 during the Stanley Cup...

Phone calls from Canada to the rest of the world1.

by a5floor

If you are going to Canada for a holiday and you want to make a call outside Canada, you can use the Prepaid Long Distance Card. You can buy these cards anywhere you want. If you are making SHORT calls, the best card is the card for Short Calls. You can choose between CAD 10, 20 and 30. I got my Prepaid Long Distance Card from the shop 7eleven. These cards are easy to use. On the back of the card is the instruction how to use it.www.7-eleven.com

The currency of Canada is the Canadian dollar. From the paper money there are notes of CAD 500, 100, 20, 10 and 5. From the coins there are CAD 2, 1, 0.25, 0.10, 0.05 and 0.01.The paper money you mostly get from the ATM is the 20 dollar note.

Well, go very well dressed but you can be impressed about how magnificent it is! there is lots to do in the Canadian winter, though almost all canadians kept on telling me: YOU SHOULD COME IN THE SUMMER!But only in the winter you can have such a beauty! This landscape is unique for me, above all when i come from aTropical country! I spent one month in the worst month in the canadian winter, the coldest and the most severe time, FEBRUARY.I did survive....and I could see the glory of the real winter!February 2005

FEEDING NICE CANADIANS

by RafaelTheSecond

I am human you know, I worry about living things...So in one of our stops in the ehart of the Laurentides, in La Macaza we saw an arera where Pierre and I knew we would find some deers. And there they were!!! :)I spend an hour having fun with these wild little canadians that you can find everywhere in the country!I love this picture as well! In Canada the Nature is present in people's life, and it can also be a threaten, like the unpleasant meeting with a bear when you are jogging for instance, or when a moose decide to come up in front of you car when you are driving. But there are some safety signs in the road so that you know that you really have to be careful!
