Butchart Beautiful Gardens

by doreenellen

Another favorite thing about Canada was Butchart Gardens in Victoria. The gardens used to be a quarry and was bought by the husband of the family for his wife. She used to manage all the plants herself but the gardens grew too much for her to manage. The gardens still remain in the Butchart family and they employ around 65 gardeners all year round and the same amount of seasonal gardeners. The gardens includes : A lovely Sunken Garden, as photo shown. Rose Garden, Japanese Garden, Italian Garden and many pretty walkways and waterfalls. There is also a Seed and Gift Store, Cafe and Visitor Centre. We took a ferry ride from Vancouver. The gardens will remain in my memory

Wonderful Scenery

by doreenellen

Vancouver was my favorite city as there was so much to see and do. The harbour and shops were wownderfulBanff and Jasper were my favourite little towns. It says Banff is as close to heaven as can be and I would agree. So beautiful The diverse scenery, from Cities, Harbours Countryside and mountains. We saw different towns with magnificent buildings and harbours. Were lucky enough to be there at time of the fall where the red leaves were at their best. Miles and miles of beautiful colours. High monuments to see over the city of Toronto and Calgary. The amazing sights of niagara falls, where we lucky enough to see a double rainbow. We saw wonderful lakes and deep canyons and national parks with load to do and see.

"Entertainment" Book

by rmdw

An Entertainment Book is available for many cities throughout Canada and the U.S.It's not too expensive and has a plethora of coupons for restaurants and many other businesses that people frequent. It's published on an annual basis, so best to buy near or before the beginning of the year. There's now also an online Entertainment Book, but I have yet to try it.

Visit BC!

by tvdm

Visit British Columbia! Like I said, this province offers everything. If you're a city person, just hang around in Vancouver (see my page on that town). If you're the outdoor type, just wander off and enjoy the best hiking opportunities this side of the Rockies or dive into the mighty Pacific! Walking over a deserted Long Island beach on a stormy day in May. The vastness of the silvery beach and the power of the ocean's surf made a huge impact not just on the shore but on myself as well. I didn't care that I got cold and soaking wet, I just couldn't get enough of the overwhelming scene. It's the ultimate stress reliever!

Hike on Vancouver's Grouse Mountain

by Paul2001

Few cities in the world have so many outdoor attractions at their doorstep as Vancouver. Among the many such attractions is Grouse Mountain, the 1250 metre peak which hovers over North Vancouver.Grouse Mountain is accessible by North America's largest cable cars. The cable car ride cost $17.50 for a round trip. The views at the summit are stunning. On a clear day (unfortunately a rarity in Vancouver) you can see all the way to Mt. Baker in Washington State. The mountain has several hiking trails of varying difficulty. They can get quite rugged. There is also the danger of black bears so be careful. Scattered about the summit there are also cafes, restaurants and even a bar where you can sit a gaze at the vista. The cable car station is located at 6400 Nancy Greene Way and operates daily from 9am to 10pm.

As close to a utopia as there is!

by surbon514

Canada is a wonderful country. The people are progressive, liberal, and friendly. The places are fantastic, especially Montreal, where I now live. There's such diversity and tolerance as is rarely seen in the US. There's really nothing I don't like about Canada. If you are ever in Quebec City, you must go to the Chutes Montmorency, the highest falls in Canada. In summer I went with my school to see a fireworks display on the falls set to techno, it was absolutely breathtaking and shouldn't be missed. My best memory would be when I went to the Chutes Montmorency to see Canada's firework team compete with other countries. It was a huge gala, tens of thousands of people came, and it was exhilarating to be there, see the fireworks as we sang the national anthem. A close second would be standing on top of Mont-Royal one balmy summer night and looking at the lights of 3.5 million people in...
