Facts About Saskatchewan: ...

by Shara.Buchan

Facts About Saskatchewan: The Land Located in the prairie region of Canada, Saskatchewan is bordered by Manitoba, Alberta, the Northwest Territories and the United States, and is the only Canadian province with entirely man-made boundaries. The province is rectangular in shape and is 651 900 km2 in area. Half of it consists of forests, one-third of cultivated lands, and one-eighth is covered with water. The northern zone rests on a formation of Precambrian rock characteristic of the Canadian Shield. As a result, there are numerous (over 100 000) lakes, rivers, bogs and rocky outcroppings. The southern part of the province is relatively flat, with occasional valleys created by erosion from the glacial era. This prairie zone is where most of the people live. Camel caravans might not seem out of place in certain parts of Saskatchewan. Athabasca Provincial Park has sand dunes 30 metres...

Facts about British Columbia:...

by Shara.Buchan

Facts about British Columbia: The Land British Columbia is Canada's westernmost province and one of North America's most mountainous regions. BC is bordered by the province of Alberta, the Yukon Territory and several U.S. states, including Alaska. Given its location, British Columbia is a gateway to the Pacific and Asia. Sometimes simply categorized as part of Canada's 'West,' the province is actually a distinct region, both geographically and culturally. The variety of its landscape is the main reason for British Columbia's distinctiveness: its 947 800 km2 offer remarkable topographical contrasts. Where the Pacific Ocean reaches the continent, it meets a chain of islands, large and small, running from north to south. Some of these islands are nestled in fiords carved in the majestic Coastal Mountains, which rise more than 2 000 metres above sea level. To the east of the Coastal...

Facts about Alberta: The...

by Shara.Buchan

Facts about Alberta: The Land The westernmost of Canada's three Prairie provinces, Alberta lies between the 49th and 60th parallels, at virtually the same latitude as the United Kingdom. Alberta is 1 223 kilometres from north to south and between 293 and 660 kilometres in width from west to east. Nearly equal in size to the state of Texas, the province covers an area of some 661 190 km2. Roughly half of the southwestern section of the province is dominated by mountains and foothills - striking reminders of the glaciers that, over millions of years, formed, moved and receded in the area. Peaks of the Rocky Mountains located in Alberta range from 2 130 to 3 747 metres in elevation. The foothills, which form a gentle link between mountain and prairie landscapes, feature heavily forested areas and grasslands used for grazing cattle. Beneath their surface, the foothills contain some of...

Art Gallery of Ontario in...

by Tolik

Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto,is strong in Canadian and European art. Among our favorites are works of Rembrandt, Monet, Gaugin, Degas, Renoir and Picasso to name a few. The evolution of Canadian art can be followed here. There is a splendid selection of works by the Group of Seven and their associates. Is collection of Henry Moore sculpture is unrivaled. You can visit //www.ago.on.ca/ Art Gallery of Ontario online.

If you are visiting Toronto,...

If you are visiting Toronto, wonderfully bizarre Casa Loma, “house on the ridge”, is a must... This castle-like mansion was built in 1914 to satisfy the architectural fantasies of Sir Henry Pellatt and show off the vast fortune he accumulated in developing hydroelectricity in Ontario.

Provincial Museum of Alberta...

by Tolik

Provincial Museum of Alberta in Edmonton offers a fine introduction to the human and natural history of the province. This modern building contains four galleries, each devoted to a different aspect of Alberta’s natural and cultural heritage. A highlight, the Aboriginal Peoples Gallery, features all aspects of the lives of the original inhabitants of the western plains. 12845 102nd Avenue. You can visit www.pma.edmonton.ab.ca/ The Provincial Museum of Alberta online.

Six million objects and more...

by Tolik

Six million objects and more than 40 galleries make Royal Ontario Museum the largest one in Canada. The birth of the ROM was somewhat inauspicious: it opened in 1912 on the very day the Titanic sank. Today ROM is the second-largest museum in North America (after New York’s Metropoliten Museum of Art).

Hockey is a big part of Canadian culture. And we don't call it 'ice hockey', it's just 'hockey' here ;) If it's played on the street then it's 'road hockey.'And as you can tell, they learn an appreciation for the sport from a young age ;) My future NHL playing nephew, Ryan ;) He's got his Toronto Maple Leafs overalls on too, though his bib is hiding the logo.
