Scarborough Bluffs

by Shar

Ha - I've lived about 5kms from this point for the past 3 years and yet wasn't aware of its beauty. Goes to show how easily you can get caught up in the day to day crap and forget to be a tourist hey.Toronto is on Lake Ontario which is in essence destroyed environmentally so you can't swim in it. BUT - it is still a lovely place to walk along or gaze out at.BUGGER - still can't work out how to upload my photos. Ooops - image to come when brain arrives !!

The Bones Project

by travel2unravel

Despite its small size, Telegraph Cove is a major whale watching center and primary put-in spot for sea kayaking excursions to Johnstone Strait. At the far end of the harbor boardwalk is a converted warehouse containing the Johnstone Strait Whale Interpretive Centre, a non-profit organization dedicated to marine education, research and interpretive programs (nicknamed the "Bones Project"). On display there are many marine mammal skeletons and other exhibits of local wildlife. On last visit, preparations were underway to mount a sixty-foot-long fin whale skeleton. The Centre is well-worth a visit.

Canadian Nature and waters

by janika

I remember once talking to an American friend who likes fishing, just like me. He said once: "This is as close as I ever get to haven" He meant it by, referring to a Northern Ontario fishing lodge. Nature is a huge part of this country and the wild life in Canada is protected and cared for by Canadians. Great fishing, hunting, camping, mountain climbing, dirt biking, surfing, whatever you want to do here, you can. Canada has many water ways, lakes rivers, ponds and canals. Our agriculture is strong and Canada's wheat products are one of the best quality on the World. Same with lumber and many other things. Canada is also very rich in natural resources like oil, natural gas, coal, etc. Canada is not over populated and very clean.

Nitobe Memorial Garden in Vancouver

by Paul2001

Vancouver's Nitobe Memorial Garden is a recreation of a traditional Japanese. It has a pleasant atmosphere that will remind any traveler who has visited Japan of their tranquil gardens. The Nitobe Memorial Garden is located on the campus of the University of British Columbia. Because of this and visit here can be combined with a tour of the Museum of Anthropology nearby. The garden covers an area of 70 acres and has more than 10,000 different kinds of plant species within. The garden is dedicated to a Japanese scholar who died while visiting Canada in 1933.The Nitobe Memorial Garden is from Monday to Friday from 10am to 2:30pm. Admission is $2.50.

TIDAL BOARE

by hevbell

This was at the Bay of Fundy which is known for its tides. The Fundy tide pushes a wall of water into the mouth of the Petitcodiac River so the river fills with water in just a couple of minutes. We saw this while staying at Moncton, in New Brunswick, the unofficial capital of Acadia. Another of Monctons well known sights is Magnetic Hill, an optical illusion where it seems like cars are pulled 'uphill'. Picture - Courtesy of my aunt :)

Visit Vancouver's Maritime Museum

by Paul2001

What makes this sight so special is the St. Roch. This two mast schooner has been completely renovated and sits inside a wing of the museum. The St. Roch is actually the first vessel to circumnavigate North America. No easy task when you consider the Northwest Passage. The voyage was conducted by the RCMP in order to reinforce Canada's soverignty over it's Artic Frontier. The exhibit of the St. Roch gives the observer a great idea how difficult an ordeal this voyage was.
