On the way to Banff National Park, we stopped by this beautiful glacier. The interesting thing was we learnt about the history of glacier formation and appreciated it even more. Considering the history of those glaciers, I'm most impressed by the grandeur. We also learnt about how the ice comes crashing down quite suddenly in an avalanche.
This was the entrance to a lodge on a very winding narrow road outside Banff by about 12 miles. We had lunch there but did not spend the night. Maybe the name will come to mind later. It is typical of some of the buildings in the area.

In July 2002, while in Alberta, we had an opportunity to see and climb up a forest fire lookout tower. These are usually in out of the way places and are an important part of guarding our forests against natural disasters.
In Alberta in July 2002 we had an unplanned excursion - we ate our lunches at a small lake where a helicopter was coming to collect water to dump on a nearby forest fire. This was pretty exciting! It was a little noisy, but a lovely spot.
In August 2001, on BC's Sunshine coast, on one of our excursions off the boat, we had a great view of these old spring board holes. These would have been cut into the base of a tree that was to be cut down. The 'spring board' was inserted in the hole and the faller stood on the board so as to cut above the area of butt swell on the tree trunk.
The most interested me is the contact and communicate w/ Idian native .Absolutely interested .I love learn more their dancing,songs,history,culture...IT'S GREAT THAT THEY LET ME WEAR THEIR OUTFIT onetime.
tofino, BCremote (you drive like 1-2 hours with no towns.) beautiful drive. tofino is very tiny town on ocean. very wild. always rainy and cold! good food cool local people. ummm....im tired so i have no more to say but i recommend visiing it. nearby town of ucluelet....something spooky about it!
Take the spectacular Coastal Trail along Lake Superior's rocky coast, a 125-km journey through a spectacular park. This park is breathtaking for its beauty - its mist-shrouded shoreline, the hills and waterfalls and deep inland canyons. Take the Algoma Railway and visit the park at its most glorious - in the autumn. The train will drop off hiking and canoeing adventurers along the way. This picture shows ice fog at the lake's Old Woman Bay.
Pemberton and beyond. Most tourists only get to Whistler, but there is so much more just a few miles further north. Great golfing, fishing, cycling, rafting, jet boating, horse back riding and hiking just to mention a few. The Duffey Lake road to Lillooet goes through some spectacular scenery high in the coastal mountains. A must if you are driving through.
