Kenora (Ontario) is worth a visit

by PrairieDee

Kenora, Ontario is a town about 2 hours East of Winnipeg. It is a summer town, you probably don't want to visit in the winter, but in the summer it comes alive. It is situated on the Lake of the Woods, you can camp, swim, canoe and much more.Kenora is cottage country for many Winnipeggers who consider it their 2nd home, but very few international tourists have discovered it.

by mizgoldie

Northern Ontario is full of spectacular sites to see. There is so many small and large lakes with hundreds of miles of shorelines. Roads that have been blasted through rock. Evergreen trees planted among huge rock settlements. Its just and awesome place to see nature at its best. It is one of the most peaceful areas of Ontario.

A good WALK or MOUNTAIN BIKE...

by Mauswara

A good WALK or MOUNTAIN BIKE ride outside of KELOWNA, B.C. Back in the days of the steam train, there was a fairly busy railway that ran through the hills to the east of Kelowna. The trains are long gone and the tracks have been pulled up, but the railbed provides a wide and LEVEL WALKING PATH, and the tunnels and 100-foot high TRESSLES (those old-fashioned rail bridges held up by cross-thatched support beams) make it an cool path to explore. You can spend the whole day walking, and you don't even have to turn around and walk back if you are organized with a ride to one entry point and from another. Take a picnic. ACCESSIBILITY/SKILL level required: NOVICE. It's a flat walking path, but the tressles (bridges) are made with slightly spaced cross-planks (railway ties with a couple inches between them, rather than a solid surface) and you have to be prepared to step across or over the...

Getting off track is easy!

by tvdm

It's not hard to get off the beaten path here. Practically anything some 10m from the main road is wild nature. If you're an experienced hiker, you'll love the scenery along the many inland lakes - it's so serene! If you're not that experienced (like me), be very careful: if anything happens to you, you're on your own!

Centennial Beach in...

by Carmanah

Centennial Beach in Tsawwassen, British Columbia is one of the local's best kept secrets in my opinion! When people visit Vancouver, they rarely explore outside of the city. Tsawwassen isn't usually on their list of places to see unless they're planning to visit the ferry terminal. But if they're looking for a great beach within an hours drive from Vancouver? I'd point them to Centennial Beach.Centennial Beach is located on Boundary Bay, on the east side of Tsawwassen. It's here where you'll find some of the cleanests and warmest waters for swimming. The water from this bay comes from the ocean, and filters out every time the tide goes down. When the tide goes down (like it is in the photo), you can walk out on the sand for miles, quite literally! Here between the sandbars and the tidal pools you'll find all sorts of jellyfish, snails, fish (like flounders), sanddollars, crab, scallops,...

by Carmanah

The Sea-to-Sky highway (Hwy 99) is located between Vancouver and Whistler in British Columbia. This is considered one of the most beautiful yet dangerous highways in the province. There's mountains and forests to one side of the highway, and water, islands and glaciers on the other side. Photo: Howe Sound, the inlet of water alongside the Sea-to-Sky Highway.

by mlafren

This photo is taken in Yoho Park on the Marpole trail. The hiking is great! Get information from Parks Canada before you venture in the wilderness. It is necessary to book ahead of time when planning to camp in the backcountry. Here in Yoho, we stayed in a youth hostel before setting off with our backpacks. We camped 2 nights and we stayed in a cabin run by the Alpine Club.

by richiecdisc

The ride from Jasper to Prince Ruppert is a great place to see wildlife, probably better than the parks. If you're doing the ferry that runs through the inside passage of Alaska, it's cheaper to do it from here than Victoria, BC. You don't miss that much and you see quite a bit on this road too.

by tripster

Take a trip to China Beach on the west side of Vancouver Island, just up from Victoria. A beautiful hike through a forest with huge fir trees leads you to a desolate beach surrounded by forest. Take a bottle of wine and a blanket!
