    North Cape Windfarm

by Dester Updated Oct 2, 2009

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Offshore lies the longest natural rock reef in North America. Onshore, the Atlantic Wind Test Site features advanced windmill technology at work creating electricity for Islanders and information for wind energy development - learn all about it at the Wind Energy Interpretive Centre. Enjoy the view from the restaurant overlooking the meeting of the tides of the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the Northumberland Strait and leave time for a walk along the Black Marsh Nature Trail. Bring your binoculars as it is a teriffic bird and seal-watching area.

    St. Mary's Church Indian River

by Dester Updated Oct 2, 2009

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

As with many rural Churches on the Island it's always open and admission is free. There is an honor box for donations.
St. Mary's Church was built in 1902 with a rib-vaulted or groined ceiling, enhancing the quality of sound and archives with the use of fir, pine, spruce, maple, and birch throughout the building.

Today, St. Mary's remains the architectural and acoustical treasure that the Architect William Harris envisioned; the perfect setting for voice and instruments to celebrate wonderful music. It has been said that the natural acoustics of St. Mary's rates as one of the top ten places to perform in the world.

Since 1996, the Indian River Festival has arranged for some of the best classical musicians in North America and Europe to perform at St. Mary's.

    St.Simons and St.Judes

by Dester Updated Oct 1, 2009

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Easily the most beautiful church on the north cape, St. Simon & St. Jude Church, called Tignish Church on the island, is a Roman Catholic church located in Tignish parish. It is the single largest church on Prince Edward Island, clearly seen for 6 miles on flat land, and for many miles at sea.

    L.M. Montgomery's resting place

by Jefie Updated Jan 7, 2006

    4 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Lucy Maud Montgomery (1874-1942) fans won't want to miss the chance to pay their final respects at the author's burial site. Even though Montgomery died in Toronto, she was buried in the place she loved the most on earth: her Island. The Cavendish cemetery is located at the intersection of Routes 6 and 13. Montgomery's grave is very easy to find.

No ugly sights on PEI/Novia Scotia

    by feline01 Updated May 12, 2003

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

There are so many small villages on Novia Scotia and PEI (Prince Edward Island), I couldn't possibly name them. And of course, I've forgotten the names of many of them. Most people who visit have a car so use it and drive around. Take the road less travelled and see what you'll find.

    The lighthouse at North Cape...

by Lisser Written Aug 25, 2002

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The lighthouse at North Cape is one of the first on the Island. Built in 1866, the lighthouse is a fine example of original lighthouse construction, and continues its singularly dramatic role on a site that is claimed by some as the windiest spot on the Island. North Cape is also home to the Atlantic Wind Test Site. Comprised of 8 gigantic windmills, the farm produces 3% of PEI's energy!
The North Cape Complex houses a gift shop, marine aquarium, interpretive center, a licensed restaurant and a panoramic view of the Gulf and Strait.
