Beaches

by fairy_dust

Some of the beaches are tourist traps - mainly the ones owned by Parks Canada (Cavendish, Brackley, etc). You have to pay to get in, they're filled with tourists, and the ones with a canteen have overpriced food. If you're looking for a nice quiet beach where you can relax, don't go to the ones promoted by the tourism industry. These beaches are still fun to go to, but if you know you'll get hungry, bring your own food if you don't want to pay high prices at the canteen. Go to the private beaches that are "hidden" from the tourism industry. Most of them are in areas where people have summer cottages. There are some nice one in the St. Peters/Morell area, at Tea Hill, and Little Pond (between Montague and Souris).

Dress up like Anne of Green Gables

by Jefie

There are a few places across the Island that offer people the chance to take pictures of themselves dressed up like characters from the novel Anne of Green Gables. The fee is around $2 per person to wear the costumes and you then take the pictures with your own camera, which allows you to take as many pictures as you want. This is one of those tourist traps that actually are not too bad since it's not too expensive and it's more comical than anything else. Speaking for myself, I must admit that getting my 12-year-old nephew to dress up like Gilbert was pretty priceless!!

Cavendish is the biggest...

by Lisser

Cavendish is the biggest tourist area on the island. Practically the whole 'town' is one big resort, the main strip being located inside the provincial park. You have to pay to enter the whole area of the island known as the provincial park. I think Canvendish is highly over rated. It is a nice place to see, but things have become outrageously expensive! I also wouldn't reccommend staying right in the Cavendish area.
