I love the Keg all through Canada. It is a relaxed casual dinning atmosphere, dim lit.
I prefer the bar side by the fire place.
The beer is always ice cold and appetizers are excellent.
I found the waitress to be very friendley and accomendating.
Favorite Dish: My favorite is the Steak Oscar. It has the best sauce in the world. Real tender steak , which melts in your mouth. Large sea scallops on top. Also tender aspargas.
There prime rib is excellent also and other steaks.
My favorite wine is the Wolf Blass from Australia. It is a Cabernet Sauvignon.
The meal is served with garlic mashed potatoes.
A loaf of fresh bread is also served with your meal.
For desert, may I recommend the choclate mud pie.
For a after dinner drink , a speciality coffe is nice with Baileys Cream
This is the restaurant attached to The Caribou. It has a range of typical foods for a steakhouse with a nice big fat steak their specialty of course. It has 2 sections. A restaurant floor with wooden tables and chairs and a really cosy feel to it with the fire place. The others ection is a bar, also with wooden tables and chairs and a fire place. The steak was fantastic. Get the pepper sauce!
The breakfast is okay. Its not the highest of quality but in their defence we were never up early enough to get the freshest of the buffet. Regardless, its a great feed for a good price and keeps to full and raring to go for a long day on the slopes.
We spent New Years Eve there as well. We were told to stay close to home that night as it was going to be so cold. It reached about -30 C so we are glad we did. We had a 3 course meal that was as good as any we had in Banff.
They also have a wide range of beers to sample.
If you stay at the Caribou, which we believe you should, The Keg is the perfect place to start the day with breakfast, relax after a day skiing and enjoy a big feed at night.
Sorry, no pictures of the inside of the restaurant but the website below has some and the menu.
The Keg Restaurant and Bar is situated in the Caribou Lodge Hotel. The food here is delicicious, steaks done to your specification, and beautifully presented. The staff were very attentive.
It is adviseable to book a table here.
There is also outdoor tables .
Favorite Dish: We especially enjoyed the buffet breakfast, it really sets you up for a day of sightseeing.
There is an a la carte menu also.
The Keg is always a safe choice and somehow it just seems right to be eating a fine steak beside a roaring fire, deep in the mountains. On weekends the chance of waiting for a table is fairly great but they do have a comfortable lounge to wait in.
Favorite Dish: My favorite is the Sirloin Oscar with a Wolf Blass yellow label. A simple *mountain* dinner.
A great Steakhouse in an comfortable dining
atmosphere, and a fun and casual Bar.
Great food and fun times.
Hours of operation ,6.30 am till 2.am.
