LAKE LOUISE: Tom Wilson, the 1st white man to see Lake Louise in 1882, named it Emerald Lake. When he returned later, the lake had changed from green to blue, so he rechristened it Lake Louise for the daughter of his traveling companion.
Lake Louise changes color with the seasons. In the Summer, the silt increases as the ice melts & disperses & reflects the green portion of the light spectrum. When the silt settles more quickly through the fall & spring, the water becomes a rich, deep blue.
This is my favourite spot in the world...so peaceful and relaxing. I could sit on the edge of Lake Louise and stare at the view forever!
Yes, right behind me is the renown 'frozen' Lake Louise. It was not until a year later that I get to see the beauty of this emerald Lake. Amazingly beautiful & uniquely colored!
