Favorite thing: Lake Louise is 1,730 metres (5,680 feet) above sea leved. The world famous Chateau Lake Louise sits at the opposite end of the lake from Mt. Victoria and Victoria Glacier. The nearest surrounding mountains, Mt. LeFroy and Mt. Fairview, are in the background. Melting glacier silt creates the striking turquoise colour of the lake and keeps it at a frigid temperature year round.

    Lake Louise

Favorite thing: The Banff park's other main center, Lake Louise, is very different to Banff - less a town than two distinct artificial resorts. The first is a small mall of shops and hotels just off the Trans-Canada known as Lake Louise Village. The second is the lake itself, the self-proclaimed "gem of the Rockies" and - despite its crowds and monster hotel - a sight you have to see.
Lake Louise is 4.5km from the village on the winding Lake Louise Drive - or, if you're walking, 2.7km on the uphill Louise Creek Trail, 4.5km via the Tramline Trail.

Favorite thing: We rented a canoe for an hour. It was appropriate time to round the lake. We set out toward the Mount Victoria first then turned back to the direction for Chateau Lake Louise. That was fun.

    Lake Louise Junction

    Lake Louise Junction

Favorite thing: There is a small super market in this place. If your accomodation has a kitchin, buying some food there is one of the best ways.
