Parking in Town
Parking in the old Main Street area is tight, but possible, and there are several free public parking lots, the largest being near Centennial Park. This is a walkable town, until you try to going shopping at the Safeway or other areas where traffic moves fast and sidewalks are few.

Alamo Car Hire - Good Value
On arrival at Calgary we walked outside the terminal and across the road to the Alamo Rent A Car office to collect our vehicle. We could choose from a number of mid size cars and chose the blue PT Cruiser as we had seen them around and thought it would be an ideal change for our holiday.
Our rental was for 8 days with return of vehicle in Banff. Our first overnight stop was Canmore and the next day we moved on to Banff where we had a week's accommodation. From this base we took day trips and when we drove to Jasper we stayed overnight. We had a great time in the vehicle, it performed well for the two of us and after a day or so I found you had to transfer out of automatic if you need extra power to overtake.
On return of vehicle at Banff it was covered in dirt and mud, no worries with Alamo and no extra cleaning charges.

Rocky Mountain Sky Shuttle
Took this from Calgary airport - you'll see their booth in the airport as you leave customs. There's several shuttle companies all next to each other, so it's not hard to get a ride to Canmore/Banff.
Very good service.
Keep on Truckin
No wonder at our accommodation there was a sign for delivery vehicles restricting there delivery times. These things are huge & can block your exit from the car park.
This happened to us so we just went for a walk around Canmore. Thanks Truckie!
