TraAmici is a coffee shop located in Little Italy, right beside the Italian Centre Shop. Their menu is small but good. They have espresso, cappucino and americano ranging from $1.50-$3.50, as well as regular and Italian pop and juice. They have 8 paninis to choose from. They are all $5 and come with a pickle on the side. If you are very hungry you might want to get 2, or a pastry for dessert. They also have a nice selection of home-made gelati which comes in a cone or a cup, and are a good size. They are $3 or $5. Stan, the owner, is there half the time. He is very friendly. He always plays any Italian soccer game that is on. *THIS RESTAURANT IS CASH ONLY* There is a cash machine inside the restaurant.
I like the roasted chicken with pesto and provolone panini with an Orangina. Theme: ItalianPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: 10850-95 St.Phone: 780-424-8259

mmm...lemon chicken by Karlie85 Hong Kong Delight is another small restaurant located in the heart of downtown Edmonton. It is a popular spot for the lunchtime office crowd. The portions are quite big. One thing everyone loves about this restaurant is that the service is extremely fast. A co-worker said to me today "It's great. You order your food, and 10 seconds later it's there". The staff are friendly enough and the restaurant is nice and clean.
They always have really good lunch specials for around $7.50. My favorite special is beef/chicken and broccoli, lemon chicken and chicken fried rice. Their lemon chicken is my absolute favorite dish. When not on special (not on special, the serving is a bigger size) it is $9.50. I also enjoy the green onion cakes. Red pepper by Babcia This is not only the best Greek restaurant in Edmonton, but also the best of any in Canada that I have had the good fortune to sample. The food is amazingly tasty, the atmosphere charming and very "Greek", and the staff efficient and friendly. Sometimes they even have belly-dancing entertainment and the requisite smashing of plates and glasses!! Koutouki is an absolute MUST for anyone dining out in Edmonton. If you love Greek cuisine, this is the place for you. Even if you don't love Greek food, you will after your first visit to Koutouki! The portions are more than generous and not to mention mouth-watering and delicious. The "Meza" option on the menu lets you sample all of the great Greek classics - hummus, pita, feta-garlic spread, roasted eggplant dip, Greek salad, spanakopita, dolmades, calamari, keftedes, Greek salad, etc. Just when you think you can't eat any more, the potatoes arrive, and they are out of this world!! Just HOW do they make them??!! The only downside to this restaurant is the selection of wines. The house wines leave a lot to be desired (unless you are a fan of retsina), which means that you are stuck with having to order a whole bottle when a glass or half liter will do.
There is no-where else in all of Canada where the pita bread and hummus are so mouth-watering and divinely delicious. Such a simple dish - and so wonderful!!! Still the best Greek food in town!!

This place is AWESOME!! If you like Vietnamese you can't miss it. Even if you don't like it - you should check this out. The food is deliciously prepared. There are many options and it's a comfortable atmosphere. Notes on the price below: Than Than's is reasonably priced. For the best deal, go for lunch. There are regular lunch specials that are under $10 Canadian. There are other DELICIOUS dishes available for a little more than $10.
I LOVE the Lemon Grass Chicken and Pork. If you like it hot - try the Sweet and Sour Soup. You have to finish off your meal with a Three Bean drink. This is SO GOOD! The sound of it was very unappealing, so, I'm not gonna tell you what it's all about. The TASTE is GREAT!! It's a sweet drink serverd as dessert. Enjoy and Bon appetit! Let's cook!! by Babcia This unpretentious restaurant in Edmonton's west end serves wonderful oven baked ("il forno") pizzas and mouth watering pasta dishes at reasonable prices, all of which you can wash down with some fine Italian wines. This casual eatery is subtly decorated, the ambience is wonderfully warm and friendly as the proprietor circulates among all the tables welcoming all who dine at his place. The salads are fresh and lightly dressed, the selection of pasta sauces is marvellous, there are also specials of the day that include risottos, veal and fish. This is a perfect place to unwind at the end of a busy day or hectic week of work!! UPDATE January 2007 - unfortunately the original owner of Il Forno SOLD IT!!!, the restaurant is still there, but whether the food and ambience will live up to its previous standards is a BIG question.
The pastas range from the basic tomato and basil sauce Napoletana to the spicier Calabrese, complete with homemade Italian sausage. The seafood pastas are especially delicious. Antipasti plates, calamari and cozze alla marinara (mussels with white wine and tomatoes) and Insalata tricolore are perfect starters, while the risotto with scampi, scallops and crab, or the vitello al lemone (veal with lemon) are hearty entrees. For dessert save room for gelato. The Tasy Tomato is a wonderful Italian restaurant located on the city's west side. It is very popular, so be prepared to wait a few minutes if you arrive at dinner time. The dining area is quite small and cozy, but not at all cramped. It is a great place for a romantic dinner or just to go for fun, and they are also family friendly. It is well worth the wait. The menu isn't huge, but everything on it is absoltuely delicious. It tastes like it is straight from Nonna's kitchen. The portions are all huge, so there is plenty for leftovers. The staff are always very friendly and helpful, and every time I have been there the staff have been the same, which is nice to see. The Tasty Tomato has been voted the Best Italian Restaurant in Edmonton numerous times, and anyone I have taken there has absolutely loved it.
Everything I have tried has been excellent, but my favorite would probably be the Insalata Mista to start, which is romaine with onions, tomatoes and carrots with their delicious house dressing. Then I would have Penne Ricardo, which is sundried tomoatoes with penne, shallots, green onion, garlic, white wine, tomato sauce and cream. I would finish up with one of their ice cream desserts (if I had room!) Theme: ItalianPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: 14233 Stony Plain RoadPhone: 780-452-3594

by Karlie85 Chili Hot Hot is a large new dim sum restaurant located in downtown Edmonton. I was here last on a Sunday afternoon, close to the end of the dim sum cart service. The cart service was fairly quick. The food was all hot and delicious. Once the cart service was over (around 2pm) it was a bit harder to get service as the restaurant virtually emptied out and all of the servers seemed to take a break. Once the cart service is over you can still order dim sum items off of the menu, or order off of the regular menu. Lunch for 2 people came out to only $24! ALL DIM SUM ITEMS ARE ONLY $2.75! This restaurant is, unfortunately, now closed
Delicious, flavorful, tender shrimp dumplings and warm sticky rice that tastes just the way it should be.

L'Azia Restaurant in Edmonton's City Centre Mall. by Jareotto *****UPDATE 090205 **** OK. So, I've been to L'Azia recently. I hadn't gone for a while. Jason quit and the menu has been revamped. :-S Unfortunately, the service is not as exceptional, nor the food as well prepared. ALSO, the Martini NightS have been reduced to A Martini NIGHT (yes, that's SINGULAR!) - with the price raised. Martini Night is now on Thursday @ $5.95 for two ounce (which really, is still not too bad!). OK, so, don't get me wrong! The food is still quite satisfactory. The menu is very diverse. You have your choice of anything, really. All ingredients are of high quality, delightfully prepared and presented. The staff is friendly, kind, and personable. The atmosphere is SO COOL!! There's beautiful modern art on every wall - for sale (by local artists). Blown glass sculptures and ornaments (also for sale). Clean. Fun. This was my favorite restaurant - However, since the changes, I have not been extraordinarily impressed. I would rate L'Azia a 3 out of 5. For more information, please follow the link below: L'Azia *****UPDATE 090205***** Apparently there is ANOTHER L'Azia on the North End. I found this information on the website - However, the exact location was not yet available, NOR was the contact info.... (Great advertizing....) Anyway, I called the restaurant - had the number - the NEW LOCATION IS: 13503 - St Albert Tr. (No comment for now - let me know if it's any good! :P)
HMmmmmm..... This is a tough one. I've tried many items on the menu. I really enjoy seafood and for that reason may I recommend the Seafood Mirabella (w/shrimp, scallops, and mussels over linguine) OR the the Atlantic Salmon on rice. Both dishes are excellent. The seafood is fresh and done just right - not rubbery, nor fishy. The sauces are mouth-watering! I also enjoy the Chicken Tuscany and the Mediterranean Chicken Lasagna (actually, I had this last night!). Both are deliciously spiced, either with basil or garlic and other herbs (I don't know exactly what - yet, the taste is distinct). I also recommend these. I've never ordered the burger myself, however, I've tried a friends and must say - this is also delicious. (So is the Ginger Beef, Spring Rolls) Dessert is another matter. Without reservation, I recommend two desserts: The Chocolate Terrine and the Chocolate Whiskey Truffle! These are so savory. Ask for two forks (so you may share OR eat with both hands).
