The people of Edmonton like to stay indoors and speak on computer microphones or they're cellphones. Edmontonians love they're cellphones. They would prefer to watch DVD movies on a sunny day than doing activities. They carry their cellphones where ever they go. Check out all the sattelite dishes in any of the neighbourhoods if you come to Edmonton. They love to drink alcoholic beverages and if they decide to go out to a restaurant attire or dressing up for dinner does not exist. You can wear jeans or runners at any restaurant. A great deal of Edmontonians are overweight. This is not an insult, Edmontonians take pride in taking life easy. The word LAZY is not a four letter word in this city. It is the only place in the world where you can wake up, not shower, wear what ever you want and not worry about what people think about you. You can be sweating after a workout from the gym and go to a pub or shopping. People just don't care and that's how Edmontonians view life. Remember that Edmonton is the Siberia of Canada. It is winter for most of the year and it is for that reason that Edmontonians are so computer dependent. This is how they communicate with each other. Edmonton does have hockey but make sure you come before the playoff season because of the small town team (compared to big city hockey teams in the U.S.) they usually miss the playoffs. And you just MUST see the MALL. The mall is just like the great pyramids of Egypt. It is that exciting! It puts a smile on my face everytime I see people getting together and shopping. It is like a family when Edmontonians get together at the Mall. Edmontonian women are the most approachable women on the planet. If you are looking for a wife then this is the city for you. I have heard from many of my friends (girls) that they are lonely during all the winter months. A date can also be an excellent activities and I have not heard of an Edmontonian women turning down at least one date. They are that polite. Yes we Edmontionians are not big city folk like they have out in other Canadians cities like Vancouver or Toronto but you cant beat our enourmously oversized malls. One of the modern wonders of the world. Come visit Edmonton soon!!!

Address: West Edmonton Mall
Edmonton is known as Festival City. There are festivals going on all year round, but the summertime is especially jam packed.
It would be unfair for me to write individual tips on all of them, so I will sum up some of the more popular ones here.
Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival- Held in August in Old Strathcona, this is extremely popular. I'm not sure the exact number of plays, but there has got to be over 75. There are tons of vendors set up on the street-food, street performers, art...there is something for everyone.
Capital Ex a.k.a. Klondike Days- Held in July, this is our yearly carnival. Games, rides, concerts, lotteries, food. Fireworks every night at 11pm.
A Taste of Edmonton- Held in July at Churchill Square in the centre of downtown, across from city hall. A chance to sample offerings from dozens of city restaurants.
Edmonton Folk Music Festival- Held in August at Gallagher Park. Dozens of performers over 4 days. Beautiful setting, very laid back. I saw Norah Jones here :)
Festival of Trees- Held around the beginning of December. A great place to bring the kids. Lots of activities and beautiful trees on display.
This is just a tiny example of what my bustling city has going on all year long!

One of the most visited places for both locals and world travellers is West Edmonton Mall, the world's largest shopping centre.
Other attractions: The Provincial Museum, The Odyssium (science centre and planetarium and Imax Theatre), the University of Alberta (more than 30,000 students), the Muttart conservatory, the famous parks of the river valley (North Saskatchewan River), and of course the many cultural activities that make Edmonton a hive of activity year round.
High on the list is the beautiful Winspear Centre concert hall (pictured on the left) which is now installing the second largest pipe organ in Canada with 6551 pipes and two consoles, it is scheduled to have the inaugural concert on September 14.
Other cultural activities include the Fringe Festival, the Edmonton Folk festival, the Heritage Days festival held in Hawrelak Park in the first week of August. Oh, and lest we forget-Klondike Days in mid July which celebrates the Klondike gold rush of '98 when Edmonton was a terminus of activity for the goldseekers.
