    Winter Make-up Tips

by authoress Written Apr 16, 2007

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

It's not a great idea to wear mascara in the winter! When my sister-in-law came to visit from Australia one winter, she walked for about 10 blocks in the freezing cold. She said it felt like an ice-cream headache from the outside and she started to cry making her mascara run all down her cheeks. It might not have been too bad if she hadn't been going for a job interview at the time! So, if you do wear mascara - make sure you at least have a mirror with you to check for damage control!

    118 Avenue-Hookers, Drugs and Thugs

    by Karlie85 Written Jan 19, 2007

    4 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

118 Avenue in Edmonton stretches on for quite a long ways, but the most dangerous part is from approximately 97 Street to 30 Street. A lot of the neighborhoods that fall along the avenue are low income and very run down. There are prostitutes all over the place, with their pimps not far off I'm sure. There are lots of drug dealers/gangsters, and their preferred mode of transportaion is stolen bicycles. If you ever see a grown man on a bike that is way too small for him in this area, that is probably why. There are lots of pawn shops and seedy bars along this avenue as well.
I don't want to make it sound too too bad, because there are a few good restaurants and bakeries along here, but it is a place you should definitely avoid at night.

Credit Card and other types of...

by Civet Updated Aug 26, 2002

Credit Card and other types of fraud are very prevalent in the Edmonton area. People will make up stories you can't even imagine just to try to get a couple hundred bucks off of ya. Stay especially away from a man claiming to be 'Muhammed El Tassi' a supposed former boxing champion. He hangs around primarily down town in the Churchill area and sometimes on the north end. Many will try to get you to deposit a fake cheque into your bank account and give them the money immediately. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS. They generally won't do anything if you ignore them and walk away. If they get rough, remember you don't have to be a citizen of Canada to make a citizen's arrest. If you do attempt to make a citizens arrest, be sure you can overpower the subject and have a cell phone on you to call 911. You can make a citizens arrest for any major offence including assault.
