  • Just got back from Grande Prairie. Rented a car from Hertz. Gave great personalized service with a down home type feel. And even the price was right. I'll be using them there again.

    Wow!

Canadians may find my surprise at finding full service gas stations..... an oddity. But in my area, full service gas stations are a thing of the past - and I haven't driven into one in over 20 years!!!

This young man humored me as I snapped his picture - he thought I was odd too!!

In addition to full service stations being the norm, the gas prices were quite steep during this visit ..... over $1 a litre, averaging about $50 or more a tank!!

If you've never stood next to a buffalo, you must do that when visiting Grande Prairie. There are several ranches nearby that offer tours and such. To see the animal that once roamed free and wild, its sad to think of what our ancestors did to dimish their population, until you see one running right at you, then you count your blessings there is a fence in between!!!

I'd like to say thanks to the Memphis Belle for allowing me to use a pic of hers to show you all what I mean!

    Along the trails you'll see...

If you want to walk through the city of Grande Prairie, there is no better way to do it than down the trails, Muskoseepi Trails that is.

These paved trails run across the whole town, mostly along Bear Creek. They are kept in good shape - you can walk, rollerblade, skate or bike through them all.

Pets are welcomed, but please, keep them on a leash and clean up after then!

  • Directions: If you park at Muskoseepi, you can take the trails from there. Or, just find Bear Creek and you'll find the trails.

Welcome to the first rodeo of the pro tour. Thats right, the first one is here in Grande Praire, and we love it!

Chuck wagons, bull riding, barrel racing and cowboys - we got it all. The stompede also brings into town the fair grounds so the kids can play on the rides while you check out the action!

The stompede is the first week of June, and its a crazy, busy weekend here. Lots of fun!
