O'Shea's Restaurant & Bar: A good place to meet friends

O'Shea's serves as a restaurant and a bar, but I have only been to it as a bar. Located inside the Athabasca Hotel, it has comfy couches and chairs to lounge on, as well as regular tables and chairs. There is sports memorabilia on the walls and even some vintage chairs from the original Montreal Forum and Maple Leaf Gardens hockey arenas. There are about 4 or 5 tv's; one big screen and a few smaller ones scattered throughout the room. I didn't personally have anything to eat here, but the food around me did smell good. We were there during happy hour, so highballs and beers were $3.75, and after happy hour they were $4.75. They don't play loud music, so it is a nice place to meet with friends and chat.

Most importantly, this is the location of my first ever VT meet! Me and Dave met up with VTer bobsreturn2004, had some drinks, talked about soccer, hockey and the crime stats of Edmonton! I must say, my first VT meet was a success!

The only thing that creeped me out about O'Shea's, and the lobby of the hotel, were the giant stuffed wildlife heads on the walls.

Had a decent time here. It's a decent sized place with a bunch of long playing cardlike tables, a pool table, a couple dart boards, a couple TV's on the wall and one big screen TV in the back. Two bars. I think they had a small dance floor if I recall.

    (an excerpt i found)
Local favourite. Homemade 'All Canadian' beef, bacon and cheese burger, fish and chips, nachos and steaks. Friendly pub atmosphere. 11 local and imported ales on tap. Food $4-$15.

    Brazeau Lake BBQ

    While the BBQ Cooks !

Campgrounds at Brazeau Lake in the hinterlands near Drayton Valley, a little to the west of Edmonton.
We were taken on a great BBQ on the headpond of the Brazeau Lake dam - with the Rockies off in the distance and the geese calling from the lake. The food and beverages tasted really good too!
