After the hike to either the end of the lake or the Plain of the 6 galciers, this is the view that comes at you all along the path. On a calm day the reflection of the Chateau in the lake is a photographer's delight. The colour of the water in the lake also generates some enthusiasm from the viewer. Behind the Chateau across the valley are the ski slopes on Lake Louise Ski resort Leave a Comment

Lake Louise. Alberta by dabidc Lake Louise is a gem in the Canadian Rockies, it is an well known around the world. Here are several photos from a visit to the Lake in May 2005. The lake is located in front of Chateau Lake Louise and the view looking west to the mountains and glaciers at the west end of the lake. There are many walks in the area, the most popular is one that goes along the north side of the lake , it is level until the end of the lake is reached. The path then climbs gradually at firast then it gets steeper, eventually you can reach the tea House at the Plain of the Six Glaciers. If you visit in May or June, it is possible to hear and see ice and snow falls breaking off the glaciers. The morning is also a good time to visit the Lake, since the light and hopefully the sun is behind you over your left shoulder, thus excellent for taking photos of the whole scene. Leave a Comment

Perfect views at L Louise. by dabidc The Parking lot is directly behind the photographer and this is the first place many visitors reach. It is a perfect spot to take photos especially in the morning. '' here is Kathleen in the foregorund, with Lake Louise in the middle distance and way in the background is Victoria Glacier. then many tourists and visitors turn round and go back to their bus or car and they have seen L Louise. For the traveller it is time to move to the right and follow the path by the lake in front of the Chateau. Go for a walk alongside the lake, go for a climb to the Lake Agnes tea room, It is way up there, see next photo. Leave a Comment

Ice /snow avalanche. by dabidc The view shows a small avalanche falling from a Glacier. When large chunks of ice and snow break away the sound can be heard by the visitors outside the Chateau Lake Louise a few kilometers away. This view is in the general direction of Mt Lefroy and the Upper and Lower Lefroy Glaciers. Both are to the left of the Victoria Glaciers, visible on the slopes of Mt Victoria from Chateau Lake Louise. Mt Victoria is the solid wall at the far end of the lake. Leave a Comment

Chateauwith the Beehive behind. by dabidc The new tower at the Chateau Lake Louise is seen in front of the general area where the two beehives, the Little Beehive and the Big Beehive are located. Lake Agnes lies between the two and is the place to hike to for a light lunch after you have climbed to the lake. Leave a Comment

Lake Ice & water run off. by Waalewiener This was a lot of fun to watch ,and seeing the big pieces of Ice making its way to this run off area and then crunch crunch ,being broken in pieces, it brought childhood memories back , I used to see a lot of this when a child . I could sit there and watch it for hours ,but we had to move on, I did see some young fathers taking pieces of Ice out of the water for their children. Leave a Comment

Lori at Lake Louise. by Waalewiener Well a little history about Lake Louise. Lake Louise discovered in 1882 by tom Wilson ,and it was called Emerald Lake. Then the named was changed to Lake Louise ,after the 4 th daughter of Queen Victoria. Lake Louise with its green blue water is probably the most photographed scene in the Canadian Rockies, and the location where Lori is standing between the two trees was very popular spot.
