15 ReviewsOK, so my friends and I found this one SUNDAY evening. WHAT A COOL PLACE!
(For those familiar with Edmonton, Whyte Ave - "The Thirsty Turtle" occupies what used to be "Syposium")

4 ReviewsBanff nightlife is plentiful.
The cheapest place is the saloon at the HI Hostel on Tunnel Mountain Road. Bear in mind this is NOT in the town center so if you have been drinking you will need to...
3 ReviewsLocated on Bourbon Street in the WEM, you might want to check out the comedy. As with any comedy club, some comics are better than others. We enjoyed several laughs, and a few drinks. A reasonably...
6 ReviewsI was a cool place with both tourists and locals. This ois a medium large pub with a British favor. This is not a dance club but there was live music . Good option to start a nighttime in Banff!!...
2 ReviewsThis is where all the afterhours clubs are (and in general a greater diversity of clientele). That perhaps is the only unique draw to downtown. Though there are lots of other, more main-stream, night...
2 ReviewsWild West Saloon fills up later in the evening - around midnight. The band is live and country. Huge dance floor! The cowboys seemed a little more urban then just off the ranch but that could of been...
This was also where the dancing moved to after the wedding celebration had to leave the wedding, dinner and dance location upstairs in the Sunroom. It worked out pretty well and we danced until the wee hours!
I don't think there is normally any dress code and we were mostly dressed in the fancy duds we'd had on for the wedding.

numerous bars and pubs: everyone wears flip flops

Canmore and Jasper have a pubs with live bands on the weekends. We went out a few times, but when you have been hiking and mountain biking all day, the only two places you want you want to go to are the Jacuzzi (Hot Tub) and your bed.
There is no dress code. We were there in the summer. It does get chilly at night.
Legislature: Purple City
by canuckmike
I'm not telling you to go out and do this but this is something that is fairly common among the youth of Edmonton to try at least once. Night time at the Legislature there are bright yellow lights lighting up the building. You go stare at the light right close up (cuping your eyes to get maximum exposure) until you can read the writing on the light bulbs. When you look up, everything will be black except sources of light which will now be purple. The best place to do this is the very rear of the building (southside). There are stairs going downward with lights on bothsides and a fountain at the bottom with an open flame which looks neat when it's purple. Becareful I don't know if the security likes people doing this but I have never had any problems. Also don't do this to often for obvious eye health reasons.
Garneau Theatre: Old Style Movie Theatre
by canuckmike
A nice movie theatre with a balcony. It plays the more independant movies if you are into those and it is cheaper than going to the mainstream movie theatres.
