  • The Vat: Great Live Music

by OMGWTFBBQ Written Dec 18, 2009

A local bar that often features live music, including local talent like Ian Stewart. Friendly staff and great atmosphere (check out the cool rock-legend murals all around the bar, they really take the music part seriously) make this bar a favorite among locals. Also, as it is within walking distance of Red Deer College, the crowd tends to be a little younger, but still more sophisticated than the clubs downtown. Food is available, but it is a bar, so don't expect anything fancy.

Dress Code: Casual/whatever. Highly recommend not dressing up too much.

  • The Blarney Stone North: Do not enter!

by buttercupjane Updated Mar 19, 2007

Inacceptable. We spent the day here, for St. Patrick's Day. Started out a ball! Our waitress was amazing! Than another patron with a chip on his shoulder punched one of our friends in the face! Awful I know! Then, to make matters more ridiculous, their waitress who had just witnessed this happening. Proceeded to kick us out! She wouldn't listen to reason or anything just yelled at us and dragged our bleeding confused friend out of the bar. In a normal establishment, the person who is causing violence, is the person who gets kicked out, not the innocent bystander who gets hit. I could not believe it! I will never be back, and strongly recommend staying away from this establishment, it's clearly dangerous and obviously the stafff has a jaded sense of right and wrong.

Blarney Stone: I am a pub girl...

by jenniferhen Written Apr 3, 2004

These are as the name would suggest, an Irish pub. They used to be my absolute favorite spot to hang out and have a pint and wings at. BUT NOW....they raised the price of a pint from $5.50 to $7.60 (this is for import) The local draft is still resonable. As a tourist, you will enjoy this place, it has pool tables, dart boards, live entertainment on the weekends and a nice menu. Also they do have nice couches to relax in when sipping on that pint.

Well, there is not too much...

Well, there is not too much nightlife going on in Banff or Canmore. It's extremely fun to stroll the streets of downtown Banff at night, and go into the mini mall or catch a movie at the theater. Go to the bakery in town and grab yourself a hot chocolate and some pastries and head out to sit in the local park.
It's just great to see this place at night
