Just twenty minutes or so further north of Balfour is Ainsworth Hot Springs Resort. Highly developed, man made pools, the place is a bit too developed to call it a natural setting, although it is right across the street from Kootenay Lake, still a very attractive facility. The large pool has a horseshoe shaped cave to meander through as you soak. The cave itself feels like a steam room in parts, a rather unique experience. There is also a cold pool. The pools were well maintained and the dressing/locker/shower rooms were clean and well equipped. We had a great time here.
Ainsworth Hot Springs is a resort complete with Hotel accomodations and dining facility. We did not stay here but did view a couple rooms and they were unexceptional, seemed a bit on the pricey side. Many had a great view of Kootenay Lake and the mountains.
