The Stone Circle or, to give it the correct title, the Standing Stones of Lougheed owing to its proximity to the Lougheed Town Centre SkyTrain station, is worth a visit. It's a shame that there is a metal fence surrounding them, preventing people from getting up too close, but judging from the amount of litter and cigarette butts surrounding them, perhaps this is a good thing. Very easy to find, near the Passenger Meeting Area on the Eastern exit of the station, there are five stones that I could count. There's not much else of historical or environmental interest to see nearby unless you're willing to take a bus and go up Burnaby Mountain, which is also a treat for bikers, hikers and anyone who loves to be surrounded by trees growing back in an urban setting. While you're there, check out the Horizons restaurant also! But if you only have a few hours to spare in Burnaby, make sure that the Standing Stones are at the top of your agenda and enjoy the surrounding multicultural and vibrant area.
