The Sports Grill: Friendly & Relaxed Environment

The food at the Sports Grill is pretty good. But it's the atmosphere of this place that I really enjoyed. Owner Perry really goes out of his way to make you feel welcome. We all left with our own little "personality pins", each one selected to perfectly describe its recipient.

The pub is decorated in a boxing theme, and we quickly found out why. It seems Perry was a boxer for 10 years before going into the restaurant business. We really had a great time on our visit and enjoyed chatting with Perry, and we will definitely stop in on our next trip through Cranbrook.

This little pub also allows children, a bonus when travelling with the family.

Favorite Dish: We just shared a pizza and LOTS of beer when we visited The Sports Grill. The pizza was good and the beer was ice cold - this is my idea of nirvana!

There was a great selection of pub style food on the menu - appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, etc.

Canadian 2 for 1 Pizza: Fabulous Pizzas!!!

This place is just off the main drag near the Sandman Inn and they deliver, so you really don't need to know the exact location!

These pizzas are just amazing - thick, deep dish pizzas. The crust was fresh and soft, the toppings were plentiful, and they don't skimp on the cheese either. They have a variety of wonderful combinations to choose from - some are downright unusual. You can choose from artichokes, clams, oysters, capicolli, spinach and all of the traditional pizza toppings as well.

They also serve pastas, chicken, ribs, salads, wings and garlic toast.

Everything except the garlic toast & sides are 2 for 1.

Favorite Dish: We ordered the Ultimate - with every topping you can think of, including tasty big shrimp - and the BBQ Chicken Bonanza, with BBQ chicken, bacon, green pepper, onion & tomatoes. Yum!

The cheesy garlic bread was also fantastic.

Did I mention how thick and delicious these pizzas were???

I eat here EVERY weekend. The food is great and the service is amazing. Go on Saturday for a quiet breakfast, or for the hungry they have an extremely popular Sunday buffet brunch.

Favorite Dish: Breakfast - it is outstanding...and take time to chat with your waitress - they are all super friendly.

Off The Beaten Path

Historic Moyie

Moyie is an historic little village about 20 miles south of Cranbrook, on the road to the Kingsgate border crossing. There is an old copper mine here and a large lake, the drive out here is really beautiful. There are about 10 historic buildings in Moyie and you can take a walking tour of these buildings.

Afterwards, step into the historic Kokanee Cove Pub for a refreshing drink and the best steak you've ever tasted. We make the Kokanee Cove a regular stop whenever we pass through. The food here is awesome, we've never had a forgettable meal, but where they really shine is with their steaks. Talk about tasty! And they are guaranteed to melt in your mouth, mmm-mmm good!

Their home-made burgers, hand-cut fries and fish battered from scratch are also very good. Alas, this is a licensed establishment, and minors are not allowed! =:(
