Before we moved out here, we had visited with my cousin who moved a few years ago. He's been a great resource for us on things to see, and thankfully my boyfriend remembered his tip about checking out the Othello Tunnels in Hope. The Othello Tunnels are old railway tunnels that had been blasted through mountains back in 1911. They are no longer in...more
About half an hour North of Hope, on Hwy 1, you will find Hell's Gate - a pretty well known attraction out in this area. Though the prices a little high, the views and history of the area are well worth the visit (plus when you visit once, you can reuse your tickets for the remainder of the year! Great deal if you think you will go back more than...more
This piece of the #1 highway winds along beside the Fraser River most of the way. There are 7 tunnels on this road, the longest of which is near Boston Bar. You travel through some really beautiful scenic areas along this roadway. This would be an awesome road to travel on a bike, too.We actually stopped along the highway and explored an old tunnel...more

While on a very brief stopover in Hope, all was needed was a takeaway drink and sandwich.
I had a delicious hot chocolate with the trimmings, plus a sandwich, which was eaten in the park on the opposite side of the road on picnic tables.
The coffee house was packed to the rafters, delicious food on offer, both hot and cold, soups, sandwiches, cakes, hot food etc., plus a couple of easy chairs too as well as tables inside and out.
For those of you who are interested, there is also an internet cafe housed in the coffee house premises.
click here for info and pictures of the exterier and interier of the coffee house.

We camped at this resort just south of Boston Bar on our way to Vancouver. There really aren't any facilities to speak of here, the laundry area is so run-down I wouldn't set foot in it (or the showers). But this is such a pretty spot, it's still well worth a visit.Access to the resort is via an old logging road. It is steep and twisty and not for...more
Hells Gate is located about halfway between Cache Creek and Hope. You can take an enclosed tram here, down into the canyon that has been carved by the Fraser River. Once at the bottom you will find informative displays about the fish ladders that have been built here to help the salmon return home to spawn. You can see a lot of the ladders the line...more
