Check out this beautiful Japanese garden. It is such a gem and so unexpected on this Gulf Island. It is a volunteer-maintained garden and includes ponds, bridges, statues, ducks, flowers, trees, benches, etc.
This park was created to commemorate the Japanese families who lived on Mayne Island many years ago. This garden was the highlight of the Island for me.
This garden is lit up with lights during the Christmas season.
The lighthouse ast geogina point heritage park is great. The park and the views are beautiful. You can sit and watch the many ferries go by. We were there when the daffodils were in bloom; just beautiful.
Climb uphill for approx. 45 mins. to reach the summit of Mount Parke. The trail starts at Montrose Road.
This little cafe is next door to the grocery store. It has breakfast and lunch including takeout pizza, homemade bread, bakery treats and ice cream. We couldn't stop eating the day old giant chocolate chip cookies $1 for two!
Check out www.bcferries.com for current schedules and fare information. Note that schedules and fares change with seasons and holidays. Reservations are available between Vancouver and Mayne but not between Victoria and Mayne nor for ferry travel between the Southern Gulf Islands.
Great little bookshop located in the heart of Miner's Bay. A great assortment of new and used books. Especially great selection of books re: the local area. Some great specials. Located in a neat heritage red & white b&b
