Dog mushing 2
bicycle_girl Says:
Sitting in the sleigh, seeing the dogs at work, breathing some fresh air, and hearing nothing but the sound of the sleigh on the snow and the dogs panting, maybe sipping on a steaming hot chocolate... You would like that...
watching the races, and ski
bicycle_girl Says:
It's happening once a year, the mushers go around the US and Canada and race their dogs... At 108 mile house, you can rent a cabin, do some cross-country skiing, try snow tubing, or just enjoy a glass of wine in front of the fireplace...
Dog mushing...
bicycle_girl Says:
It's a great way to go out there, see really nice dogs at work in a beautiful environment... You can watch races and also get rides in the forest... The dogs will be happy to get out there and pull your weight...
Flying U Guest Ranch: Working Ranch
ldc_stl Says:
This Guest Ranch offered a lot if you enjoy the outdoors. It is located near Green Lake in British Columbia. The accommodations are very rustic and have a lot of character. The cabin in which we stayed was built circa 1880 and had one light bulb and a wood stove. Home cooked...
The Hiils Health Ranch
bicycle_girl Says:
The Hills features a world-class health spa; a real western Canadian guest ranch; a full-featured winter snow park; and a great hiking resort.
Great self-contained cabins with 3-4 bedrooms, ideal for groups, and they also have single rooms in a hotel-like building.

Log home, Lac Des Roches
Darby2 Says:
Here's a fine example of a gorgeous log home on beautiful Lac des Roches. The lake is about 8km long and has a fine fishery for both Kamloops and Gerrard Rainbow trout.
No Place like Home!
Darby2 Says:
Interior shot of a log home. The warmth and elegance of a log home is hard to beat. In most cases, the natural finish of the wood is varnished. Some commercial buildings and lodges can be as high as 4 stories
Finished log home
Darby2 Says:
Many homes have rather high steep roofs to enable them to shed the heavy snowfalls that sometimes occurr in the central Cariboo.
More on log homes...
Darby2 Says:
The photo shows a log home under construction. Each log is carefully peeled, then shaped and notched to fit the other logs in the assembly. Typically, logs can be more than 18 inches in diameter. Many of the log homes are exported world-wide, particularly Japan.
Log houses and cottages
Darby2 Says:
With the abundance of high quality timber in the area, many residents construct their homes and summer cottages from logs. The offer the advantage of elegance, durability and ease of construction and for the most part are relatively inexpensive. Most are built from Lodgepole...
Fly patterns used in B.C.
Darby2 Says:
There are literally thousands of fly patterns used here but some of the tried and true continue to produce trophy fish.CaddisflyChironomidDamselflyDragonflyLeechMayflySearching PatternsShrimpStoneflyWaterboatmenand... one of my favorites, the Black Hellgrammite
Sheridan Lake...home of the trophy rainbows
Darby2 Says:
Sheridan Lake is one of the most sought after fishing destinations in the Cariboo. The Rainbow trout in here have a lot of feed in the form of chironomids, scuds, mayflies. There are a lot of shallow weedbeds where the trout up to 15 pounds come to gorge themselves.Fishing...

Lorin Lake trout
Darby2 Says:
When I fished Lorin Lake a few years ago, the rainbows were enormous...some up to 15 pounds. My personal best was about 12 pounds taken on a green sedge. This is a smaller one, about 7 pounds, taken on a mayfly pattern. The flesh of these fish is bright orange red but can...
Another huge rainbow!
Darby2 Says:
The mark of a good fighting rainbow is its ability to leap and run when hooked. You had better have lots of backing line on your fly reel!
Green Lake, a great family lake
Darby2 Says:
Needless to say, Green Lake takes its name from the intense blue-green colour of its water. Although not a prime fishing lake it has a good stock of rainbows and Kokanee. It's primarily a base camp from which to explore the thousands of other lakes in the area.
