Parksville Things to Do

Well, in my opinion, for me anyway, is to get over to Parksville on Vancouver Island now and again, because this is where both the parental units live. It's always very relaxing once you are there, you can allow the world to just melt away.
Which is something all of us need now and again.

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Parksville has a yearly sandcastle compitition on the beach. People come from all over the world to build sandcastles. There used to be a whole lot more going on around this time, but since a riot a while ago, they cut down the activites. It still seems to be one of the most popular times to visit.

A&W is a great place to go after the bar, cause its the only one open! Drive through after 11 only, but they always take a long time to get food, so be prepaired for a 15-20 minute wait for you fries! I tend not to order the chubby chicken, they take at least 30mintues! McDonalds is like any other, but watch your order, they seem to hire idiots here! Dairy Queen is not the greatest!

A busy restaurant beside a gas station.

Favorite Dish: I rememer when this one opened up, we thought, no way can it be as good as ding ho(another asian restaurant in town) But we were suprised. Mostly a buffet style, has lots of different foods, and a good price. If you have a large group, you may want to make a reservation, or if you do not want the chance of waiting for a table.

The "front" is a hick bar with mostly live music. Mostly country/oldies, fun to go to every once in a while. Beware, not the best mix of people, definently do not go there if you are looking to meet someone! still fun tho!

Beleive it or not, Parksville has a new NIGHTCLUB. DJ and everything!!!

I have only been a couple times, and was really dissapointed, I ususally go to Nanaimo for the clubs.

They have turned into mostly a strip club now, trying to make more money. There is always fights there, so if you want to have a good time with no fights, do not go there.

Dress Code: Slutty, twinki, next to nothing

The rod is one of the oldest buildings in Parksville. Mostly live music, ecsept the odd Kareoke night. One of the more popular places for locals to go, once was home to only old creepy guys, not the younger crowd attends as well, due to really good bands here every week.

Dress Code: Whatever you want, there the girls who wear next to nothing, to the guys who where next to nothing, to half the people wearing sweats.

Parksville Transportation

Parksville has a major lack of public transportation. The busses run about 3 times a day. If your not driving, and you have a distance to go, cab it. Since Parksville is only about a 7 minute drive from one end to the other, a lot of locals walk. In the summer, driving is fustrating, so I usually walk when I spend time downtown.

Parksville Favorites

Favorite thing: Parksville is such a beautiful town. When I was younger, before I learned to enjoy things other than electronic, I hated living here, but it has really grown on me now. There is so much to do here if you want to be outdoors! The summer is the nicest time to visit, with the most to do. Unfortunantly, the town gets so busy, it drives us crazy! Have someone local show you around, show you all the "hidden" spots. They truly are the nicest.

Fondest memory: Parksville can be so many different things to different people. The locals here are mostly one of three things, NewlyWed, Nearly Dead, or stuck in the middle. Parksville's sister town, called Qualicum, about 5 minutes away, was voted the oldest town in canada, not the age of the town, but the age of the residence.
