    Getting to Steveston

by IreneMcKay Updated Apr 12, 2015

Steveston is very easy to get to by public transport. First take the Canada Line train to Richmond Brighouse. Then get on the 401, 402, 407 or 410 bus. The bus journey will take around 20 minutes. We took the 407 and the last stop was very close to the Georgia Cannery Museum. We got the same number of bus back.

If you check the excellent Translink site, it will tell you the exact departing bay of the next bus. The bus bays were right next to Richmond Brighouse Station.

    Drive Here, Than Walk

by briantravelman Updated Jul 9, 2014

Because the sky train doesn't go to Steveston, the best way to visit the city, is with your own car.
We spent the whole day exploring New Westminster and Richmond, before finally ending here in Steveston. We parked our car at the Brittania Shipyard, because it's the first avaliable parking we saw, and it was free. We got there pretty late in the day, so there were barely any cars. We thought it would be close to the marina and city center, but it was a bit of a walk, though not too bad. In fact, we were glad we parked here, because we didn't have to deal with traffic in the city center.
We spent around 2 hours, exploring the city on foot. We first checked out some navy ships, than ate some food, and walked around the wharf and city center. We visited the Brittania Shipyard last, since that's where our car was.

Walking is the only way to see Steveston

Steveston has always been a pedestrian-oriented community. The only way to truly experience it is to walk. Park your car at one of the many free parking spots and explore the town on foot. Moncton Street is the backbone of the village, providing Steveston with its commercial storefronts and restaurants. The Steveston Landing and the wharfs can only be accessed by foot. Walk along the boardwalks and take in the smell of the river... it's so refreshing. Be sure to walk along the trails, eastbound to Garry Point Park, or westbound along the dyke to Britannia Shipyards. It's truly the only way to experience Steveston.

    Watching the Ferry

    by pieter_jan_v Written Oct 12, 2012

Steveston has no ferry terminal; it's just to muddy here.

Only small ships can sail into the Steveston harbour without to much trouble.
