Makek Restaurant and Lounge: The best Indian food West of Bradford
Their new premises which have been designed specifically, was opened in the Fall of 2004. The furnishings are of good quality and generally there is no need to book unless for a large party. A sizable room is available for large functions which is always popular.
The 120th Street Mahek restaurant has proved so sucessful that another was opened in 2012 at
Panorama Villiage, 15133 56 Ave in Surrey tel 604 576 1151
Both premises offer a full take out service
Favorite Dish: Chicken Vindaloo, Very hot and almost impossible without steamed rice and perhaps garlic nans. Whilst waiting for the food which is usually only a few minutes, why not a glass of Indian Kingfisher beer served in ice cold glasses.

Mahek Chaat House: Vegetarian snacks
Sister to the Mahek Restuarant and lounge in Surrey, the Chaat House offers a wide range of South Indian vegetarian snacks, ideal for those who do not want a full meal. Its decor is very basic, but the staff and owners are very helpful and will guide you so you will select something you will certainly enjoy. I am generally the only non Indian in the place, but you are made to feel at home.
Hours Wed to Monday 11.00 -21.00hrs
Favorite Dish: Mahek Dosa, which is a thin, but huge 12" - 14"pancake filled with all sorts of goodies such as almonds, raisins, cashew potato masala and indian soft cheese. It comes with side dishes of chilli, yogurt and a sambal soup all for C$6.95. A great way of eating well on a budget.
