We have been on whale watching trips aboard the Gikumi a few times. Each trip was fantastic with lots of up close whale sightings. Stubbs Island Whale Watching has been using the boat for whale watching trips since the early 1980's. This is a wooden vessel which gives the outing an adventurous feel. There is a head, heated interior (which you will probably really appreciate at sometime during the outing). There is a hydrophone or undersea microphone which picks up the Orca's vocalizations to be aired on speakers throughout the ship. The Gikumi is about 60 foot long. They also have another newer vessel about the same size, but for us the Gikumi is the real thing.

Bear watching (Tide Ripe Tours) is a real unique experiance.
Go see bears with a Zodiac!!
Main advantage of this trip is that they have build a platform on top of a bus so they can place themself in the best possible location to view the bears!

The only thing why you would go there: Whalewatching. An expensive experience, but well worth it. We even saw a humpback!
