Over the Canada day long weekend (july 1st) my family held a reunion in Valemount. The location at Tete Jaune Lodge was perfect as there was lots of space for our RVs and it's right on the Fraser river. Right beside our campground there was a small rafting company called stellar descents.
The guys who worked there were fantastic! They helped us get onto a trip leaving later that day and were able to accomodate our whole group into 1 raft. We decided on the Fraser River white water trip because we had some younger kids who weren't old enough to do the Beaver River.
Stellar provided everything we needed including all the safety gear, all we needed was bathing suits. The run lasted 2 and a half hours, complete with water fights, exciting rapids, some jokes from our guides and some serious fun. We got the CD of all our pictures and now our family looks like the most adventurous family ever on facebook!

Salmon run. On the small river flowing by Valemont is a parking lot and paths along the _______ River. During August and early September each year, the stream is teeming with salmon who have made the trek up here from the Pacific Ocean. These salmon drive up the stream until they are totally exhausted and there they lay their eggs for the new generation. The males fertilize them, and both males and females die. The salmon are feasted upon by eagles and bears, etc. and if you are lucky you will see them as well.
