Grouse Mountain, Vancouver
Favorite thing: The main attraction on the Grouse Mountain, aside from the views, are the two Grizzly bears. They are very friendly, and it appears that they have been trained to stand up for cameras. If you come here with kids, this is a must see. Even if you are not here with kids, it is a must see, and one of the most memorable encounters in Vancouver. There is also a wolfs' den nearby.
We were staying in Gastown and decided to walk to Grouse Mountain. It's quite a walk, but crossing the gardens and bridge was fantastic. You should try it!!
We caught the ferry back to Gastown on our way back.
Favorite thing: Grouse Mountain is a beautiful lookout on the North side of Vancouver. During the summer months mountain biking takes over from skiing as the mountains favorite attraction. There is also a lumberjack and bird show to watch and a small zoo with Grizley bears and wolves. If you don't feel like riding your bike you can trek the many different trails.
Go do the grouse grind. Situated in north Vancouver, its base is a 10 minute drive from the city center. Its about a 2.0 km hike basically straight up to the top. At the top sits the ski hills of grouse mountain and the chalet. Here you can throw down a few beers and enjoy the amazing panoramic view of Vancouver. From there you can walk down or take the sky-tram down. And all that for the grand total of 0 dollars(minus the price of beers of course).
Fondest memory: Perfect summer days.
Favorite thing: A full team of skiers approach the upper terminal at Grouse Mountain. The entrance fee to ride the cable car is $21.34 including GST. Activities in the summer like hiking, mountain biking, and helicopter tours. In the summer time you can see from the top of the mountain the whole Vancouver city. General information at 604-984-0661.
Favorite thing: The Chair-lift at Grouse Mountain operates even in the summer ski. I can imagine that the skiing here must be pretty spectacular.
