Never really been inspired to visit Carderos. Most people in Vancouver know the restaurant because it has a prime location overlooking the north shore mountains. The restaurant is right by the Westin Bayshore so handy if you're staying here. Food is very much a west coast fare. Planty of seafood and steaks on hand to keep everyone happy. I'd say stick to the seafood if you're coming here as its quite good. Prices are reasonable but its worth the trip if you have an expence account. If not save it for the special occasions.
Cardero's is lively restaurant and pub overlooking the yachts of Coal Harbour. The scenery can't be beat - water, mountains, Stanley Park, seaplanes - all surrounded by the new glass towers of this downtown neighbourhood.
While they have a wonderful patio overlooking the water, the inside is divided into two sections: the main dining room and the pub. There's really not a whole lot of aesthetic difference between the two, other than one traditionally has a bar and you don't necessarily have to order food, while the dining room is full-menu, white table cloth service.
Cardero's is a good restaurant if you want to get a taste of a typically "west coast" restaurant. It can be quite noisy inside, so while it has a very classy interior, it's not necessarily romantic.
Favorite Dish:
The menu tends to offer a blend of seafood, Asian food, and hearty staples like steak and lamb. Over all, I'd say its menu best reflects local cuisine. However, I noticed that they do not necessarily use local ingredients.
One of their signature dishes is the "Cardero's Salmon". It's baked on a cedar plank in a wood oven, with soy, brown sugar and lemon. Served with rice and grilled vegetables.
The last time I went there, I had their steak. I enjoyed it a lot! Apparently their "wok" dishes are really good as well.
Cardero's is a great place to go for a nice afternoon with colleagues for drinks and appy's on the patio. It's also a great place to have a romantic dinner with that special someone.
The location is wonderful...on the sea looking out onto Stanley Park and the marina in Vancouver. A great time to be there is when the sun sets...twilight is beautiful.
The food is delicious - local seafood in a variety of ways. It all looks so good you may have a hard time choosing.
Favorite Dish:
Too many to choose from. Pick one and see how you like it.
Cardero's Restaurant - This self proclaimed marine pub sits right on Coal Harbourr with beautiful views from almost any seat in the house. They specialize in fish and chops and have a fusion lair to their dishes.
They tell you that your table is ready by sending a flag up a line. I like the boat theme.
Favorite Dish:
I ordered the prime rib but got something more of a steak. The food wasn't bad other than that.
Great location at the waterfront by Coal Harbour combined with excellent food.
Favorite Dish:
Wok seafood and delicious salmon burgers.
