Hamburger Mary's is a 50's style diner whose main feature is the dozen or so burgers available on its menu. If you're not in the mood for burgers, they have comfort food like chili, perogies, etc. Over all, we're talking real diner food here. Nothing fancy, but big, hearty portions, perfect to satisfy a craving for authentic diner food!
Hamburger Mary's is often rated as "best burger" by local newspaper restaurant awards, although, perhaps in recent years Vera's has taken away that glory. Regardless, Hamburger Mary's still has maintained her loyal following of regulars ever since opening in 1979.
Located in the heart of Vancouver's gay community on Davie Street in the West End, Hamburger Mary's is one of the few restaurants that keeps its doors open until 2 and 3 am. As a result, it's the perfect place to go if you're looking for a late dinner or snack.
Favorite Dish: Burger Ole - Burger with guacamole, jalapenos, salsa, sour cream, pickles, onion, lettuce and tomato.
California Burger - burger with alfalfa sprouts, guacamole, Swiss cheese and avocado
West End Burger - similar to a California burger, but with a chicken burger instead of beef.
You can substitute fries for soup. (Ttheir potato & bacon soup is delicious!)
They also make the best old-fashioned milk shakes here, served in a chrome cup. I never can seem to finish mine, but I always order it anyway!
If you want probably the best hamburger you have had in a while, try Hamburger Mary's. This place has the best burgers in the city. Funky '60's diner vibe going on inside and reasonably priced. Very fun place after the bars, but be prepared to line up if you arrive too late, this is one of the few places to eat good food late.
A unique hamburger diner in the heart of the gay district of Vancouver ... along Davie street. This wonderful establishment has a very friendly staff, great organic food with vegetarian selections, and a very good atmosphere. A highly recommended venue.
