We went to Kirin Mandarin. This is a huge restaurant, and looked a little more upscale, so we were quite surprised to be the only folks in the place! We must have been there on an off night because the food and service were top notch. Kirin had a giant menu with tons of entrees to select from. The prices run the gamut, from $15 standards up to exotic dishes that were over $100. Portions are about as expected - I was able to finish mine (per usual), my wife couldn't finish hers (per usual). The restaurant is well lit, and nicely decorated. Our waiter was quite attentive, keeping the drinks full. The manager also stopped by to check on us, and seemed genuinely grateful for the compliments we had on the meal. Although it was a bit unnerving to be the only ones in the place, we left very happy with the food and our experience. They do take reservations, but we walked in.
Favorite Dish:
I had the monoglian beef. Very tasty with plenty of beef and onions.
Vibrant Chinese restaurant serving delicious food fast and efficiently. Highly recommended by the staff at the Best Western Hotel/Richmond.
Favorite Dish:
For starters try the B.B.Q.Duck which is delicious and very tasty. For dinner, try the Sauteed Fresh Prawns (with snow peas, mushrooms, ginger and onions) and the Sizzling Filet Mignon (in a tangy red sauce mixed with onions) accompanied by steamed rice. Wash it all down with a refreshing Tsingtao Beer or some delightfully delicious Jasmine tea.
A tad pricey perhaps, but The Kirin Restaurant in Richmond is so spectacular, you will truly believe you are in Hong Kong.
Over 50% of Richmond's population is Chinese. All of the restaurants here are fantastic. But Kirin is in a league unto itself. Although it is a huge restaurant, I suggest reserving a table in advance.
Favorite Dish:
The waiter will bring no less than 4 menus to your table. Be prepared to take time in planning your meal for the evening. There is also an excellent assortment of wines and Chinese (as well as domestic) beers.
This is a great place to go to for tasty dim sum and Mandarin cuisine. There are several branches of Kirin, I visited the one in downtown. The staff here are very attentive and friendly.
