Vibrant street scene. Tons of cafes, bars and restaurants. Great places to go for dessert. Funky shops. Second-run movie theatre. Close to Stanley Park and English Bay. It's where the locals hang out, drink super-charged coffee and shoot the breeze. More mainstream and less eclectic than the Drive, but cool nonetheless.

    Beaches

There are a number of beaches in the Vancouver area. The ones I saw were Sunset Beach, English Bay Beach, Second Beach and Third. I was there in April, so there weren't many swimmers or sunbathers. The first night I was in Vancouver, I walked along Sunset and English Bay, and the weather wasn't too great. The wind coming off of the water was pretty cold and strong; it was blowing the sand...which felt like little bullets hitting me. It wasn't really that bad. I bet the beaches are much better with warmer weather.

We discovered this place by accident. We were walking around semi lost and I saw water. It looked like if it was warmer this is probably a nice beach.

This is a monument on Sunset Beach in West area. This is the symbol of the Eskimo (Inuit) nation, who live in northern BC and other parts in northern Canada.

    Tree growing on a highrise

I just love this building. I mean you are not going to find many trees growing on top of highrises in the world. Someone in the penthouse has a lovely tree and a great view from the terrace.

Vancouver is a city surrounded by water. Here is a picture of English Bay in the harbour. The city has many water side trails ideal for rollerblading, biking or walking around the many scenic sights.

The public beach at downtown Vancouver area which crowded in summer season by sun lovers and also a perfect view site of firework helds every July in town.

Grab a log and watch the sunset at English Bay. This is easier said than done in summer when countless others have the same idea.
