Vernon Things to Do

  • by honeybeemonkey Written Jul 11, 2006

The best beach on Okanagan Lake is Ellison Park. It is a campground too. You have to pay three dollars to park there for the day to use the beach. There are some nice hikes with views of the lake. The walk down to the beach is long but there are three bays to chose from. The water is clean and you can cliff jump. There are swimmers itch posters. You can be cautious and shower or towel off when coming out of the water but it is really rare to get.
Do not swim at Kin beach. There is a high fecal matter content in the water there.
The most beautiful beach on Kal Lake is Jade and Juniper Bay. It is a park too so you have to pay for parking. There are cliffs there for jumping but someone dies every year so be careful. The hike in to Cousins Bay is nice too. Stay on the paths - it is called rattlesnake point for a reason.

Vernon Nightlife

  • by canadian_eh Written Jan 26, 2004

Sometimes this place has careoke nights.. I'm not a fan... Usually during the week. But on Friday and Saturday nights, the local high school groups and those just out of high school will meet.

You will notice Vernon is a very small place, so the common 'everyone knows eachother' saying is in effect. If something happens in town, you'll for sure hear about it from these folks who are all connected through their high schools.
