Victoria is a beautiful city and the biggest on Vancouver Island. It worth a visit for itself, and if you only have 2-3 days, spend them in the area. On the other hand if you can spend more then that, Vancouver Island has SOOOO many beautiful places and things to do. So think, when will be the next time you can afford to come here?! Don't miss the Gulf Islands, the Pacific Rim and Tofino, Cowichan Valley, Duncan and many other places
Fondest memory: Pacicic Rim and the Gulf Islands
Favorite thing: We had a lot of fond memories of Vancouver Island but, as usual, we really enjoy exploring on our own. In this case, we had finished with our visiting and were exploring some of the Island in the few days that we had before returning. Our accommodations were based centrally in Port Alberni and for two days we drove from there to the Pacific coast. On the way, we enjoyed driving through the the central range of mountains - including a stop at this stream as we neared the coast.
Go up the island to one of the small towns in the mountains or on the coast to one of the beaches
Fondest memory: Soaking in the hot tub and enjoying the view from the Malahat's summit during the day(and at night enjoying the star filled skies while sipping champagne with my girlfriend/even at night we could see the moonlight shining of the water below)
Try to see the Olympic Mountains in Washington from the Beacon Hill Park, we couldn't because it was raining, but it is suppose to be a great view.
Fondest memory: the weather! You never know what you are going to get next. I think that the saying goes 'If you don't like the weather in Victoria, wait 5 minutes'. And it couldn't be more true!
Go up to Tofino - Pacific Rim National Park. The gulf islands are relaxing too.
Fondest memory: Harborfest is nice - every summer....also Folkfest.
