This place was great. We asked the driver where a good place to go was, and strathcona it was, hands down. This unique place is on the hotels rooftop, and boasts a large seating area, with views of the 2 beach volleyball courts.Enjoy a few pints and get a spike or 2 in as well.Very friendly staff, and a variety of college students occupy this lively establishment.

Dress Code: Dress code seemed to be very casual, shorts and summer shirts were welcome.

Sticky Wicket Pub: From top to bottom it's an experience

The Sticky Wicket is BC's largest pub with 1,324 seats spread over 4 floors. I am sure that only those that work there (or go there every weekend) are able to find their way around confidently. It's a lively spot, a romantic spot, a fun family dining spot or whatever you fancy depending on when you go and where you sit.

You can play beach volleyball in the sand courts on the roof, look out over the Victoria skyline, mellow out in the main pub with its 275-foot of wood bar or dance to the great mix of tunes (everyone from 18-48 will find something they know being played here). It's just a brilliant place.

Dress Code: Pretty much anything goes here but don't dress too scruffily or you'll feel out of place.

Sticky Wicket Pub: Having a great nighttime

This is a British style pub and it is certainly the one that is most favored by locals. It offers great food and drinks with ocassional live music on the rooftop patio area. Don't go away from Victoria without visiting it!!

Dress Code: No sneakers, ID required at the entrance.

Ahh, the Wicket. Since Mike moved over to the Rock (aka Vancouver Island), I've been spending an unprecedented amount of time at the Wicket eating nachos and drinking beer. For some unknown reason (or maybe for some lack of imagination...) we just keep ending up there. Problem is, it's central, there's always parking and you know you're going to have a good time...oh, did I say 'problem'?! oops, my bad.

Dress Code: whatever, as long as it covers the same parts as your bathing suit.

Strathcona hotel by far for nightlife. They have a pub there called the Sticky Wicket that has a volleyball court on the roof. It's a fantastic little pub. They also have SEVERAL more pubs on the premisis, including Legends which is one of the best nightclubs in Victoria.
Your one stop spot for you night-life fix!

Dress Code: Pretty Casual, unless a special event is happening.

Sticky Wicket Pub: Great Pub & Volleyball

by Blatherwick Written Apr 2, 2006
    Sticky Wicket Pub

The pub itself exhibits all the traits of your typical Victoria pub. You get a nice up-scale English type pub with a good atmosphere. It serves a wide variety of beers and has a pretty good food. The pub is huge with over 1200 seats. However, the place still packs it in on weekends. There is also a heated rooftop patio which is open year-round. During the summer, part of the patio converts into two volleyball courts on the roof. It's just steps from the celebrating your win on the court to the bar. Afterwards you can stumble to Legends to dance the night away.

    Sticky Wicket Pub: Sticky Wicket

I use to love the Sticky Wicket but the last time we went there none of their taps were working and we just were ripped off on all of our drinks, we only stayed for darts. It's about 3 floors with bars on each, the top has a volley ball court which is pretty cool. Seems like it could be a tourist attraction more so.

    Dress Code: it's a bar....
