The Belfry: Unusual and Thought Provoking Theatre

by suziezed Updated Apr 4, 2011

Although I don't go frequently to The Belfry (live theatre is a bit too expensive for me) I have been a couple of times in the past few years and found it quite enjoyable.

The Belfry is a small, intimate theatre located in Fernwood - one of Victoria's lower income neighbourhoods. They put on a lot of Canadian-authored plays and sometimes get relatively 'big' names (by Canadian standards) in to act in their productions. For example Nicholas Campbell from DaVinci's inquest was in a production earlier this season.

They participate in the 'Two for the Show' program that allows singles with an interest in theatre to meet new friends who also have an interest in live theatre.

Dress Code: I don't know that they have a dress code but it's a theatre not the beach or a pub - don't wear anything that you'd be ashamed to be taken to the emergency room in.
