The Reef Restaurant: Carribbean Cuisine
The Reef is a funky restaurant located in downtown Victoria. The atmosphere is fairly dark, with cool music and tiki-inspired lighting. There are often live DJs spinning in the later evening.
The menu is all Carribbean-inspired, and includes everything from curries to jerk everything! Your meal is always started with a corn fritter- I would highly suggest ordering a few extra as a yummy apetizer. It is also a good place to sit and enjoy a few drinks on a summer evening (or on a cold winter evening, imagining you are in the Carribbean!) I like the different vegetarian curries, but I'm also a big fan of jerk chicken! If you're heading out to one of the bars or clubs in downtown Victoria, The Reef is a great place to stop off beforehand for munchies (try the plantain chips and/or thick-cut yam fries).

The Reef Restaurant: Ahhhh Carribean Breakfast....
The Reef is a fun and comfortable restaurant that moved into a space on Yates St. that was formerly a decrepit Pizza Hut.
Although you couldn't really call it traditional Carribean fare, The Reef makes one heck of a breakfast. The menu features ackee and salt fish, which is really good, as well as more familiar bennies and scrambles...and it all starts off with a bucket of fruit stufffed johnny cakes and flavoured butter!
The nice thing, although I'll probably ruin it now, is that no one seems to know that they do brunch on Saturday and Sunday starting at 11am.
Victorians love their breakfast and most of the good places fill up really quickly on the weekends. It's nice to be able to saunter in when you want and get some great food and friendly service without having to deal with stressed out, hungover locals. Aw, what am I talking about, I AM a stressed out, hungover local. Oh well, check it out!
Favorite Dish: My favourite dish is the Jamaica Me Crabby.
It's a crab cake eggs benedict with citrus hollandaise sauce and hashbrowns. Combine this with a fresh hot raspberry stuffed johnny cake with passionfruit butter and you won't hear me complain...just salivate.
