I've tried to figure out how to whistler on a budget for a while now and every year it gets a bit cheaper. Buy your gear used or in the sales. Before you get here check out the Vancouver craiglist. After around 10 days or boarding/skiing you'd have paid off most of the gear you bought if it was new, probably half that if it was used. There are lots of asian students with too much money that usually ofload barely used equipment for cheap at the end of the season. Next thing is to get yourself an edge card as it allows you to top it up. This will mean you just buy life passes at the lowest rates for exactly the number of days you'll be boarding. COWS is a great shop with ice cream and as many parodies of movies and books etc that you could think of on t-shirts or sweaters!

These are available in heaps of sizes ans styles. You can also get bookmarks and mousepads etc.
Buy an ice cream - COWS has som eof the best ice cream I've tasted. It's creamy and has a variety of great flavours. Mmmmm... gooey mooey. Just your average supermarket, but the only one in Whistler, so if you need groceries at a somewhat reasonable price, then this is your bet.

This shop is pretty much the only grocery store in the area and caters to the tastes of visiting travellers (HAS VEGEMITE!!!!) but it is seriously expensive. A good deli section with menu's and local foods available from soup, pizza, meat sandwiches, selection of cheese's and ready to eat foods from the counter aswell as the usual supermarket arrangement.

Well, this store is stocked to the bring with official merchandise from the RCMP. And has viseos running during busy times to entice people to stay in the shop and spend more money.
I was particulary interested in the full size model wearing a uniform and the local biscuits.
everything from jackets and genuine leather products to stuffed animals and books telling the storied history of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
