I was very pleased that I didn't have to go through all the hassle of exchanging money. In most places in Winnipeg they accept American money, and since Canadian and American money were basically equal in worth, they didn't even price differently.

Get outside the city and see the prairie. The fields stretch for as far as the eye can see. The best thing about Winnipeg is the time from May to September. The city is alive with events, the lakes are nearby and the snow is gone.

Winnipegers take a lot of pride in the Golden Boy which sits on top of the Legisature Building at the corner of Osborne & Broadway. A sculpture park and a beautiful garden are located in this park in...

  • Great Architecture

If you do happen to be in Winnipeg, do visit the legislature. The architecture is splendid, and there is a really neat spot beneath the dome. I think it's called the Black Star Gallery or something. The accoustics are out of this world. If you whisper tanding on the inlaid marble star, your voice is projected through out the whole space. This is...

  • See provincial legislature buildings in...

As we were driving across the Western part of Canada when we moved from BC to Ottawa, in August 1988, we tried to pass through each of the provincial capitals and see their provincial government buildings (or legislatures). Manitoba's is in Winnipeg.
