Sandy beaches, beautiful galleries

Favorite thing: Artistic community, located on the shores of Lake Winnipeg, one hours drive north of Winnipeg, Manitoba. A beautiful (safe) sand beach, nice restaurants and art galleries. A walk on the pier to view paintings by local artists, painted right on the cement pier. Home to the "New Icelandic" people in the early 1900's.

The surrounding "Interlake region" has many interesting spots, including the Komarno "Mosquito statue, the Narcisse - "snake dens", Grahamdale - Lemiez Statues and endless fields of canola, flax and sunflowers.

Fondest memory: A walk on the 'artists pier' or the boardwalk at sunset, with the lake and clouds with ever changing colour hues.
