This is a real happening place. I don't talk that way, but that is a description given by many. Lots of fun, great food, great ambience, great beer. All meats are cooked the old Deep South way, in a smoker for hours and hours, so the meat literally falls off the bone. Great smoked flavour, tender, juicy.

The Garter snake dens is the only thing why people visit this remote northern town of Manitoba.
It is actually the winter home of ten of thousands of grater snakes or commonly know as garden snakes. Narcisse has the biggest concentration so it's really awesome to see them going out. There are actually around 4 pits along the trail in the woods which are subterranean caverns made of limestone bedrock. The snakes go out in frenzy during spring to do their mating rituals before dispersing everywhere and wandering all summer. I only saw a handful during my visit maybe I am too early or late.

The best time to visit is late April to early May, which is the mating season or early September, when the snakes slither back down to their winter dens.

by Redlats Written Apr 19, 2004

Most Manitoba towns have some sort of statue to commemorate some aspect of the community. Glenboro's claim to fame is they are the gateway to Spirit Sands, Manitoba's desert. What better animal to represent that than Sara the camel! She's 17 feet high, but doesn't say much.
