This is more like a sports bar where you can have a nice dinner and drink with your friends.
It has other branches in Winnipeg and I tried the one in Grant avenue near the Grant shopping centre. The place is cozy with a good crowd and favorable ambiance. It looks classy and a bit expensive though.
My favorite is the variety of their chicken wings menu, I love their spicy and a bit sour chicken wings for only 4 bucks (10 pcs). There's a bar at the centre that separates the sports bar and restaurant where one can have a good conversation with your friends away from the roar and cheers of the crowd watching their favorite sport.

One of Winnipeg's 2 metal/punk bars. The Albert has live bands every weekend, usually metal or punk. They do get some good metal shows fairly often.
Upcoming shows can be found on myspace
Looking for local metal bands worth seeing? Check out my list of picks under 'The Osborne Village Inn'

Lay on a lawnchair and look way up into the sky. We have only seen the Northern Lights a few times in the past few years, but Sep 11th, 2005 was a great night for them.
I apologize for the darkness of the pictures. I had to come into my house to read how to take night-time photos on my digital camera and find my tripod. The maximum I can set my camera shutter open is for 15 seconds, and it wasn't long enough.
When you're on limited budget the best place to hang with your friends all night is a pool hall with drink specials and pool tables by the hour playing 8-ball, 9-ball or some strange 3 man game.

These days, instead of hitting the pubs, we go to events in the evenings. There is quite the choice in Winnipeg - sports: the Blue Bombers (football -- PS we have season tickets), the Moose (hockey, now the AHL) and the Goldeyes (baseball, Northern League).
On a warm summer night,it's very enjoyable to go for a bite to eat or for drinks on Coryden Ave. For about 4 or 5 blocks, both sides of the street are jammed with restaurants and lounges. Most of them have outside patios where you can sit alongside the street & watch the traffic and people as you sip on a beverage and/or have a bite to eat.
Dress Code: There is no dress code, you see people wearing all kinds of things from shorts to full leathers (it's a favorite spot for bikers to cruise up & down the street also).
