Luce: Superior Meal With Excellent Atmosphere

by jasonklassen Written Jun 26, 2008

Do not be deceived by this restaurant’s small store front. Though the interior is small it packs a large punch. The cozy atmosphere is detailed to perfection creating a wonderful and authentic Italian flavor. The food served is a fantastic blend of traditional Italian dishes and several more original takes on regional Italian and Manitoban food. In the summer the private courtyard is a must.
The service has always been excellent with one waiter usually handling two tables but the small size makes reservations strongly recommended. The dessert and coffee menus are as exciting as the main course so make sure you save room.

    Favorite Dish: The chicken posieden
A perfect blend of rosemary roasted chicken and fresh catch seafood. Add the delicate angel hair pasta and you will quickly agree. The excellent wine selection (particularly their mid-priced whites) add the final touch.

    Nucci's Gelati: Best Gelati!

    by Karlie85 Updated Oct 17, 2006

Nucci's gelati is a family run shop on Corydon Ave. in Winnipeg. Me and my fiance went to Nuccis' Gelati at 10pm on a hot summer Friday night. The line was practically out the door, but it moved fairly quickly. They are all made fresh with real fruit. Once we got inside there was a large freezer with every color of the rainbow of gelati inside. They have over 48 flavors. Chocolately, fruity, nutty, you name it, they had it. I got a medium cup, which comes with one or two flavors, and I believe it was only $4. An excellent price considering the gelati was practially overflowing.

Favorite Dish: There were so many flavors to choose from, it was very hard to decide. I chose amaretto and pisctachio. The serving size was huge. The gelati was very creamy, cold and delicious.

    Nicolino's: Good Italian Food

    by birchy99 Written Nov 3, 2005

In anticipation of my 63rd birthday I wanted to find an Italian restaurant at which to celebrate. My first choice was to drive up to Corydon Ave. to Little Italy where we would have a wide choice. However, Mrs. B and the girls got lost as they ventured forth to find yarn shops. Having wound up nearly at the US Border Crossing they were a bit late in getting back to the hotel.
So, I decided to go to Nicolino's which was a short drive from the hotel. And not a bad choice. Located in a mini-mall at first one wonders about the ambiance. However, once inside, the smells and decor make you forget your doubts. Italian it is.

Favorite Dish: I can't remember exactly what I ordered but I'm sure it was veal or chicken parmesan, my favorite Italian meals. At any rate, the food was delicious, well prepared and the service, perhaps a bit slow and inattentive. But overall it was a pleasant experience.

In summertime, you can sit back & relax with a few friends (& beers) and have anything from natchos to ribs or fried chicken.
