    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The Goldeyes are our professional baseball team. They play in the Northern League. It is special because it is very affordable, and the fans, mascot (Goldie) and staff get behind the team, and cheer them to victory.

Equipment: You should bring a hat, sunscreen and a baseball glove because there are a ton of foul balls hit into the stands.

    THE WINNIPEG GOLDEYES

    NORTHERN LEAGUE CHAMPS

The Winnipeg Goldeyes play in what is called the Northern League. This is an independent league. Winnipeg is the only Canadian team in a league of 10 teams. The winner plays against the winner of the Northeast League (8 teams).

Canwest Global Park is situated in Downtown Winnipeg close to the Forks. The ballpark was enlarged during the winter and now holds over 7000 fans (the games are usually sold out). The Goldeyes have out drawn 57 out of 58 teams in the 6 independent leagues as well as 13 of the 30 AAA teams.

Some of the major leaguers to have played in Winnipeg are:
Mike Cather - Atlanta and Texas
    Jeff Zimmerman - Texas
    Jeff Sparks - Tampa Bay
    Dwight Gooden
    Darryl Strawberry

This is super entertainment fo rthe whole family and very cheap.
